Chino had his most "success" when he pressed and bullied Floyd. He can weigh whatever, he's not gonna match Floyd's speed.

Floyd always makes his opponents barely miss. He does that so he's in a better position to counter. That's actually Floyd's biggest give-away when he's totally defensive as opposed to looking to counter. When he's not looking to counter, punches miss by a wider margin.Comment

Floyd getting slow?Comment

Maidana being a shade quicker will not help, the reason is because Mayweather would be a shade quicker as we'll. Mayweather's defense is about both speed and timing, so if you watch his fights his opponents all barely miss the same exact way. His opponents punches always look like one mor inch they would have landed, or a little more speed. The reality is Mayweather's timing is such that his opponents barely miss, this is so Mayweather can constantly be in a counter punching position while still maintaining defense. Mayweather could not time Cotto's jab so he got hit by it a lot, Mayweather was definitely fast enough to evade Cotto's jab but Cottto's timing was awkward.Comment

Don't worry about the weight, he needs some accuracy with those big bombs. Timing and accuracy are the things to work on.Comment

That video actually shows his speed and timing, Mayweather quickly evades the first punch and leans in to counter, Maidana is leaning to the left while throwing a right so he catches Mayweather in the chest, and Mayweather's counter misses. Mayweather was already fully committed to the punch, it's asinine to believe Mayweather got hit in the chest because he's slowing and completely turn a blind eye to the first punch he evaded. Not to mention that if Maidana wasn't so awkward when he trows punches Mayweather's punch would have landed before Maidana's punch even got close.Comment

I'm glad you showed Floyd's pull counter being countered. I've saying and wondering for years, "why don't opponents look to counter that?" Its one of the few technical errors Floyd consistently makes. If you've watched him for any amount of time you know exactly when Floyd is looking to throw the pull counter because he gets up on his back tip toe, squares up, and sticks his head in punching range to lure his opponent into throwing a jab. To answer your question, yes, Floyd is slowing down. But, that pull counter is something any decent fighter should be able to time and counter because Floyd tips it. Floyd has been slowing down. You could see it as far back as the JMM fight. But if you look at his punch stats now compared to what he did as a lightweight. Floyd is actually getting hit less. And that's because he doesn't open up offensively near as much as he did in his physical prime.Comment
