2-Margarito was killed by speed twice (Mosely, Pacquiao)
If anyone thinks Floyd Mayweather, someone boxing since they were very, very young, is actually afraid to box anyone?? They just don't understand boxing or fighters...........that bullshyte is soooo old.........He didn't duck Margarito, he made a smart financial decision to aim for Oscar and overtake him as PPV king and it worked.....
I'm not a Floyd apologist and honestly not a real fan of him but can't deny what I see......here are fighters that 'ducked' Floyd on his way up.......who thinks these guys were scared?
Casamayor
Freitas
Mosely (2x at LW)
Hatton
Cotto
Judah
Tsyzu
Mosely at WW
Oscar at WW
All were soundly beaten when they did fight him........the ones that didn't stayed at lower weights or retired........
The whole 'ducking' where fighters are legitimately 'scared' of another fighter is EXTREMELY RARE......a fighter flatly being avoided now? Andre Ward....just like Floyd was before he became the P4P & $$ king.......Comment

The only way Maidana or any fighter will beat FMJ is to throw power punches when FMJ throws. That is the opening. Preferably in the first 4 rounds. The GIF of Maidana hitting FMJ with the right hand was in the 10th round. That punch shows Maidana is still thinking and trying, but did not have enough power that late in the fight. Also, Maidana is awkward but will not be a unknown anymore. Garcia wants his fighter to be lighter and quicker. I understand that, but If he does not catch FMJ early(first 4 rounds), I do not see him winning. I expect FMJ to be first more at the beginning of the 2nd fight to negate Maidana's momentum.Comment

I will admit Maidana was better at center ring than I thought he'd be..........but not that effective. Just enough to prevent a 'Hatton-like' finish. I think that's been overblown a bit.
I thought the fight was closer than the score (I had it 116-112/8-4) but it felt close and competitive throughout. I think Maidana would do good for himself to stay under 160.
His looping overhand rights aren't what did the most damage. My bet is that Floyd was EXTRMELY sore the next day while Maidana was less punished just by sheer volume. A lot of Maidana's misses were not scoring shots but made contact.
Maidana is the first guy since Castillo that went out there not giving two ****s about Mayweather's defense or skills and just forced the fight he wanted. That's what worked. And I'm sure Floyd COULD run and make it much, much easier, but I don't think he will run that much.
I do think you'll see him bank some early rounds so that he can coast a bit more........but he will take some real leather. I just don't think he'll lose.
Props to Maidana......Floyd was Floyd. He just hasn't seen anything like that in over 10 years. Mayweather was a few pounds light......may have over-trained a bit. I think he'll be much sharper. Most of the overhands were missing..........
I won't mind one bit if its a repeat. Add a good undercard and I got more of my money's worth in this fight than all Mayweather PPV's to date. The only single moment from any other fight that was better was the 2nd round vs Mosley.
Not saying I'm rooting for or against either guy. But if Mayweather wants to claim TBE status, he doesn't have to KO everyone, but he should try to get one here. Make the first fight an afterthought after a decisive KO. Which he is capable doing. He's gotten too used to coasting. I want to see what he can really do when he feels like his back's against the wall, the rounds are ticking by and he's questioning the scoring..........I want to see the best version of both guys. If that happens, Mayweather should get a KO after some rocky moments early........Comment

That video actually shows his speed and timing, Mayweather quickly evades the first punch and leans in to counter, Maidana is leaning to the left while throwing a right so he catches Mayweather in the chest, and Mayweather's counter misses. Mayweather was already fully committed to the punch, it's asinine to believe Mayweather got hit in the chest because he's slowing and completely turn a blind eye to the first punch he evaded. Not to mention that if Maidana wasn't so awkward when he trows punches Mayweather's punch would have landed before Maidana's punch even got close.
Too bad he has so many more to choose from. Don't Maidana will be able to counter them all. Floyd just simply didn't expect Marcos to be that smart. Nobody else has been in 20 years....LOL...........Comment

That's something i guarantee they worked on in the gym. The Mayweather pull-counter. That's the punch Maidana was able to disrupt once or twice. And it's one of Floyd's favorite. I think he should work on the up-jab like Cotto uses. He has heavy enough hands.
