They didn't do all this fancy weight lifting, strength and conditioning, nutritional stuff and yet managed to fight for 15 rounds.

Is it people nowadays or are we over training? What is it?
well the amount of strength you use will tire you out, if fighters today do more strength training, it's only natural they get a little more tired because they are stronger

but besides that, i dont really see the difference, alot of fighters today still have great stamina despite the strength training, i mean guys like thurman and matthysse who are extremely powereful men can move the entire 12 rd's, gamboa is a ball of muscle, although he's likely roided to the gills

also i dont know about alot of those old fighters, but robinson fought at a fairly slow pace, and held alot, dont remember ali showing stamina that impressive

guys like duran and leonard though, christ, probabley greatest stamina i've seen, y'know considering their strength and explosiveness, at the moment can only think of pacquiao, and even then, pacquiao probabley slightly below their league

I think trainers are great, BUT, i dont like the lack of the belief in the roadwork part of training. Every fighter should be jogging, it should never be left out imo.

When I was a kid boxing at the local gyms I would ask professional fighters how would they be able to fight 15 rounds. They all told me the same thing. They would run for 45 minutes to 60 minutes wearing a double mouth piece

They were on a lot more drugs in the ring at that time. Pryor would be coked out of his mind in fights

It could be training it could be lack of skills to most fighters today can't control the pace of a fight and throw lots of meaningless punches afraid to over commit they throw pitty pat shots as fast as they can and and get on there bike trying to be flashy and score points and once they can't keep that pace up their done

Back then is was all just the basics, Pounding the bags, sparring, jump rope, running and situps. They just fought more, and most stayed in shape between fights, except Duran hehe

I have a sneaking feeling that the headline on August 3rd is going to read, "Chavez Closes the Book on Brandon Rios's Career."
He took a lot of punishment in his past few fights, and now he's facing a strong, fresh, and confident full-fledged welterweight.
I'll say this, the guy has balls.

One thing is for sure, Cross-Fit didn't help Guerrero that much. The Kamikaze almost finished Guerrero's career! Even in the NFL, the faster and stronger they get, the more ACL tears I see.
