Lennox Lewis - How good was he?

Do you honestly think Wlad wouldn't beat Purity if they ever fought again?
I don't understand why are people obsessed with "avenging the loses". It does not revert the history...Comment

It matters that both Klitschko bothers relied on their brothers to avenge losses.
That they didn't seek to do it themselves is telling.
Vitali never fought Chris Byrd again either.Comment

I don't think any of his opponents have a bad word to say about him. He was great. Only criticism I think I hear is he lost to two bums, and we know they weren't exactly bums now don't we?Comment

Why don't all the nostalgist F off from the thread..
Nobody cares about ****** arguments..
As soon as you say "But WK hasn't beaten any ATG's"..
Everything else you say loses all credibility..
The REASON which is obvious, there's no ATG's for them to beat is because they are SO good that no other ATG's could arise.
To fight an ATG you have to catch the overlap like Lewis did with Tyson, Holyfield and Vitali. This was possible because MT, EH and LL had much shorter reigns than VK or WK.
And of course in bum eras like Ali's, no dominance was ever established so there were multiple guys who fought on even footing which all got promoted to ATG. If they allowed other boxers to shine, they were never that great to begin with!
So really when you say the K's never fought an ATG, what your really saying is that VK and WK were so good they never let another ATG become established AND that their reign has been so long that there has been no cusps for them to catch previous or next generation ATG's on...
^^^THIS^^^ Is pretty much an argument stopper, now can we drop this garbage please, ATG rubbish belongs in the History section. It has no relevance.Comment

WK would obviously be better prepared and more cautious for Sanders in a rematch. The chances of receiving another massive anvil butt-punch are also miniscule. He clearly developed better defence.
WK would obviously fight much more measured against Puritty in a rematch, a fight in which he beat the hell out of Puritty anyway! He clearly developed a more measured pace.
WK never legitimately lost to Brewster in the first place, beating the living **** out of him 2ce. If it WAS steroid overdose, WK learned how to better manage his drug administration. If he was drugged, the odds of a repeat are rare, if it was natural causes, again the odds are slim! He did avenge anyway!
VK CRUISED to a victory against Byrd. IF Byrd pegged VK back at all toward the end it was ONLY because of the torn shoulder. Without that VK increases his lead and wins easily. Even WITH the torn shoulder he could have stood there and won. The odds of being gifted 2ce via serious injury are very rare.
Anybody who thinks WK and VK could not have easily avenged these losses is out of there mind.
Even the LL vs VK... LL RETIRED rather than rematch!
Sanders DUCKED the WK rematch...
Byrd flew AWAY from VK...
Puritty RETIRED...
Brewster got SMASHED by WK...
And so on.Comment

Both of them were never the same after those fights.Comment

Purrity was a bum. Lets get real. He was a tough journeyman at best, who Wlad should really win every single round against and maybe knock him out.
Brewster and Sanders weren't bums per se. Actually, sanders was far from it. But when you hear some guys talking about them being beasts and some of the hardest punchers in history, it makes you wonder what they are smoking.
Wlad was a heavy fav against both but drew the short straw on the night. It happens, but there's no reason to come up with these ridiculous excuses.
Wlad is a respected champion, and deservedly so. But that doesn't mean his resume is better than it is.Comment
