Actually, it was more than 30hrs before the fight. But those are mere triflin' facts that you tend not to concern yourself with. And I'm sure Floyd didn't anticipate having to wear 10oz Reyes gloves that were designed for a heavyweight, which damn near came to his elbows in the Oscar fight. Same with Roy against Ruiz. Both of them won anyway. Why couldn't Maidana?

Easier to block punches. The 10 oz. MX gloves are a lot wider than the 8 oz.

Doesn't really matter commission rules state 154 and above shall use 10 oz. gloves, 147 you can negotiate glove size.

I didn't realize that Floyd tells the NSAC what to do? Why didn't Floyd just demand that NSAC approve blood-testing for the Pacquiao fight... Oh that's right, Floyd only fights under USADA testing... but anyway... Maidana can't wear the Cleto Reyes gloves at least...wtf..?

They are being paid very well to use the Power Lock gloves and are now a walking advertisement for them. Maidana does not want to use them but if he insists on Everlast MX, Floyd won't agree to give him a rematch for the biggest payday of his career. The money is more important to them than the glove.

All Garcia is asking for is to let them know which glove is cool up front, so he can get used to using them in advance. He's fine with the ones that they ended up using, just did not appreciate it happening in the 11th hour. If Mayweather can't even accomodate that, then it soils an otherwise good matchup in my eyes. i love the way the two matchup at this stage in their careers but this damn glove thing is ruining the fun

While the fight has not been officially announced, a rematch between the sports pound for pound king Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Marcos “Chino” Maidana looks likely to take place on September 13th at a site yet to be determined. Mayweather himself said he would be fighting Maidana a second time when he was interviewed at the BET Awards red carpet last week.

Their first encounter proved to be an exciting affair but the big story heading into the fight was there was probably not going to be a fight at all as Team Mayweather had an issue with the gloves Maidana was going to use in the fight. The padding in Maidana’s custom Everlast MX gloves were called into question by Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe and even a second pair approved by the commission was rejected by Team Mayweather.
