Im sure he's lost Arum some leverage with that performance and Arum isnt trying to lose any more leverage and future bargaining power, which inevitably accompanies another Rigo flop. He did the right thing.

Boxing is just like a sales job. Your company can get you the best leads and the best spots, but if you cannot sell your product, well then you either try to rework your approach, or expect to take a pay cut.
Rigo is not willing to do anything. He cannot sell tickets or get people to watch him, and he does nothing to try to gain fans. I do not see him speaking English, or putting opponents away, which he can do, but refuses. Even his management team refuses to do anything for him, they sit back and b|tch also.
He still expects to make top dollar but HBO will not air him any more. Frankly he is a money pit, and I do not see any promoter caring. Nobody is in the business to lose money.
Bud Crawford used to get the same "safety first boring" criticism. The last couple fights, he has been taking it to guys, and now everyone loves him, even Bob. You see Bud listened and found a balance. He is a smart guy and knows how to gain fans. It will not be long before he starts getting his million+ paydays. He is the man with a plan.

Wait, so it's Arum's fault that he got Rigondeaux a career high payday, against a top 5 lb for lb star, as the main event, on THE premiere boxing network, in one of the biggest boxing cities in the world? If rigo couldn't make something big happen out of that opportunity it's HIS OWN damn fault.

So, this is what you get when youre the most talented guy in the world, and you use that talent to displease the **** out of the fans. Boxing and TV generally is market-oriented (look up the definition), so it's always about the fans.

It's pretty simple.
I think the majority on here know how skilled Rigo is. Unless they are just trolls, or still have their moms tell them that the bright orange on the stove is a hot place.
But that skill hasn't translated itself in cold hard numbers financially for the network, or The Bobfather.
So therein lies the rub.
I'll watch every fight Rigondeaux takes apart in.
Because I'm boring like that.

There's been a smear campaign against Rigo ever since the Donaire fight that's why it's been difficult for him to put bums on seats. Hell, I've seen more praise for Limo from journalists than I have for Rigo.
