Lara is much too reliant on his straight left hand. That isn't going to win it for him against Canelo. He's going to need to mix it up more than that but I don't know if he's able to. Lara holds his hands much too low too often during his fights. He'll throw a combo, then spin out with his hands down. He is there to be countered. Canelo is a good counter puncher and is accurate. If Angulo can catch him, no doubt Canelo can. Canelo might be troubled with the speed and movement the first few rounds, but, he's just got to be patient and try and close distance and get the fight on the inside and then he can take over. Unfortunately, Canelo isn't that great at closing distance and isn't very fleet of foot. He really isn't very good at moving forward whilst punching. He likes to be set to punch. That could be a problem. But, with that said, Lara isn't good at staying off the ropes. I do not believe he can stay off the ropes for 12 rounds. That is when Canelo can capitalize. Lara is not a good inside fighter and prefers to operate with his hands up as opposed to trading punchers. Canelo is a good inside fighter and lets off good combos when he's in close. I think that is what will eventually happen in this fight--Canelo will be able to get inside one too many times and Lara will fade and eventually be stopped in the late rounds.
This will be a good competitive fight due to the intriguing clash of styles.
This is a poor man's Floyd vs an enhanced Zab Judah.
Alvarez like Floyd is no pressure fighter, but they're versatile enough to apply pressure if needed.
Erislandy and Austin are both southpaws who prefer outfighting, but there are also key differences between them. For starters Erislandy is a natural counterpuncher while Austin loves to lead and spam punches.
Their punching arsenal is very different. Erislandy's main power punch is his left hand wheres as Austin prefers a right hook. The right hook is mainly a defensive checking tool for Erislandy. I don't think Erislandy's check right hook will be a huge factor since Saul is cautious and isn't the lunging type.
Erislandy has a great 1-2 for a southpaw, and his power jab off of the straight left hand is amazing. He also uses a left uppercut if it's necessary.
Erislandy's superior counterpunching, length, and southpaw stance will force Saul to be the one coming forward.
Lara best win at least 9 rounds with a knockdown or two thrown in there to make sure they don't rob him.
The Erislandy-Angulo match is a poor indicator of how Saul will do because he fights nothing like Angulo.
I know what you mean...but man he is good at that one dimension. He uses the same technique, but he varies it to the opponent. He figures out the angles they use and gets to the correct spot to counter. But all his fights do seem like re-runs.
If angulo can find a way to break Lara's rhythm so can Canelo
Angulo didn't break Lara's rhythm , he was ready to get tagged in order to land his own punches.
Alvarez is more of a boxer puncher, he never fought like Angulo or La Motta , even versus Floyd.
He likes to throws combos with his feet planted, hence he needs his opponent to come forward or at least stand there to trade.
Alvarez ' problem in this fight is not going to be boxing skills, he's not bad at all, nor Lara's hand speed.
His problem is movement, his best chance imo is to find the body and stick to it .
He boxes, cant switch rhythm and uses the same choreography. I swear, every fight I watch of his its the same as the last fight.
Whats he gonna do with somebody who can box and brawl and can switch up the rhythm?
Man you must be on drugs. Lara is not a one dimensional fighter. Trout just confirmed that Lara does so many different things in the ring. You can't be a true boxing fan talking like that. If you're not able to make a thorough and honest assessment then don't say anything at all. I can't stand y'all half way boxing fans. Every time I come on this site , I hear something foolish like what you said. JUST SHUT UP PLEASE!!
