I said this in the other thread and I'm going to say it again here, Lara might not have the best jab in the world but it is going to give Canelo many problems, also Lara's movement will tire Canelo faster than most anticipate.
Lara is going to be setting traps all night and Ronnie Shields is nobody to sleep on. Lara has probably had the better sparring in preparation for this fight, Ronnie has a pretty good stable of guys who can give Lara good work.

As far as the Lopez fight that round your referring to was either the round Canelo knocked Lopez down twice with body shots after looking so uncomfortable or the round he got the Tko while also putting him down.
EDIT: I just watched it. Watch the beginning of the 2nd round. Lopez puts him on the rope twice.

Stamina is exaggerated when critics talk about Canelo. He did not look gassed against Angulo. If so, the evidence was subtle not clear. Lara is an economical puncher. His output is no greater than Canelo's. I thought Lara looked gassed against Williams. The whole gassed thing is blown out of proportion.
I don't think that is a factor in this fight.

Lara is a natural counter puncher, and most counter punchers do more or less the same things over and over. Lara has a nice jab and his favorite punch is his straight left hand. He may be one-dimensional but it doesn't make him predictable because: 1) his opponents don't know when he's going to punch, he uses his footwork and wait for counterpunching opportunities 2) he has perfected that style 3) he has fast hands. Trout knew Lara's best punch was his his straight left, but he got hit by the same punch all night long.Last edited by Loque-san; 07-07-2014, 02:29 PM.

How is he one dimensional? What a lazy thread with no explanation to back up such a claim.
His offense is limited in terms of punch variety and he relies on his straight/overhand left way too much but when you factor in footwork, movement, defense, timing, accuracy and intangibles he's far from one-dimensional.

I'm not seeing Lara as a one-dimensional. To me, one-dimensional is a fighter who is almost laughably predictable in a failing way and Lara RARELY fails and is not in the least bit laughable. And I don't see him as boring either. I thought his fights with Trout, Williams, Angulo, and some earlier ones on ESPN were anything but boring. He knows what works for him. The dude is sharp. He is a complete fighter and has shown this often. If I had to pick out a punch I think he should throw more, it would be the uppercut.Last edited by richardt; 07-07-2014, 02:17 PM.
