  • I honestly can't see how anyone can say Hopkins' resume is better than Mayweather's. His best wins are not as good as Mayweather's best wins, and his quality and depth is nowhere near.

To think what would happen if Floyd defended titles against such champions as Steve Frankl & William Bo James

zsolt erdei was way better than roy jones, tarver and hopkins right?

martinez was better than ggg right?

      cotto > ggg right?

Dude you clearly have an agenda.

You don't even supply any reasoning for why Hopkins has a better resume than Mayweather, which he clearly doesn't, you just nitpick on Mayweather's resume.

It's obviously Kovalev because he has the better record at the weight while Froch has no wins there.

Maidana's Broner win would be the equivalent of Froch beating Cloud or someone medicore at LHW.

The post you responded to was within that context (my response to Larry).

Maidana's record at 147 just isn't great, no top 5 opponents beaten.

I don't buy that b/s either. I'm with Thurman on this, a bunch of 140lbers artificially inflating the division chasing Pacquiao and Mayweather doth not a strong division maketh.

If all the best 168lbers went to 175 it would look good too but a killer like Kovalev would send most of them south in weight again.
Fighters are cutting alot of weight these days. Most of those 140 pounders are welterweights. For ex. Rios and Maidana cant make 140 anymore plus Maidanas power translates at welterweight.

If you're the Champion you're considered #1. Usually how it works.

Either way, even without that Floyd had STILL beaten more #1 guys than Hopkins. Even without them.

Much more, Infact. And much more Top 3 guys aswell.

          • mayweather has not faced the best available fighter in the weight class he currently operates at

            hopkins at lhw

            tarver number 1
wright at catchweight - who drew with the number 1 guy at middleweight 2 fights prior
calzaghe who was number 1 at smw fight prior
pavlik who was number 1 at mw at the time
            pascal was number 1
dawson was number 1 but lost
and now kovalev is the person who most fans feel is number 1 at lhw, and he plans on fighting stevenson next

Me either. Like I said earlier in this thread, just take the fighters they've beaten and list them by quality. You're going to end up all Mayweather. Trinidad tops the list, and then you're going Castillo, Corrales, Mosley, Cotto, Marquez, Oscar, and Hatton before you list another Hopkins win. I guess Tarver could get in there, that's it.

Then you start listing their ranked contenders and champions and Floyd blows him out of the water. Wins people completely hate on like Judah and Baldomir and Guerrero, and wins people don't ever mention like Corley and Hernandez and Chavez and Augustus, are as good, if not better than the wins people love for Hopkins, like Cloud, Murat, Johnson, Shumenov, and all those blah names he defended against at middleweight.

So wait wait wait, you're going to use Pavlik as an example at LHW despite the fact he was #1 at Middleweight?

So what about Hatton for Floyd? Hatton was #1 at Jr WW. Why didn't you Include that?

Winky Wright? A Jr MW? You're going to include that? Why not throw in Marqeuz for Floyd he was #1 at 135.

How about we make this really simple, name me the fighters Hopkins has beaten who were ranked #1 in the division being fought in.

Then do the same for Floyd.

And see who has the most.

I'll tell you the answer now; It's Floyd and by quite a bit.

Not including pavlik , calzaghe and wright , I got a count of 5-0 for Hopkins in their current divisions.
Didn't include Dawson loss, included the NC
By the way Hatton almost lost to collazo before he fought mayweather. Calzaghe and pavlik were unbeaten but unlike Hatton they dominated everybody prior to Hopkins

Nice debating with you , peace

The best FLoyd can come up with when asked if he will fight Sergio, I don't know what the future holds? The future holds Miguel fighting Sergio and ripping his crown from him, and Floyd cherry picks Maidana and not allowing him to wear his gloves that's what the future held.
So Floyd need to go fight guys two weight classes above just to be on par with Hopkins? Some of u guys are unreasonable with the hate. Doesnt make sense.

If Hopkins fights a Klitchko then that a valid comparison

                      What about Canelo and Cotto?

                      both were ranked #1.
