Don't know much about his dad's background. I know he used to be a boxer. I'm pretty sure Carlos has limited experience as a trainer. It seems clear to me that Gamboa is not being properly trained. His defense improved under Salas, and it took a quantum leap backward versus Crawford. Also, Yuri was not properly conditioned for the contest. He visibly gassed in the fourth round. There was no order in Gamboa's corner during that fight. I think Yuri is merely training himself. Word is he's trying to save money by using his dad as his "trainer." Penny wise, pound foolish.
