Much props to Gamboa. I just hate how wreckless he gets when he gets tagged, 130 would be good for him.

I just hope Gamboa can salvage what's left of his potential.
I'm actually a fan of 50 Cent's boxing venture, but Gamboa was too far into his career to jump ship, sit for a while, and then start working with what's basically an upstart promoter. It was a bad move; if he was going to leave, he should have gone to Golden Boy.

Gamboa couldn't go anywhere until his deal with Top Rank was over. Breech of contract is what shelved him for fifteen months. He's been virtually inactive ever since. Indeed, it was a bad move. Just like that, the career of an unusual talent can crash-and-burn.

I was a huge Gamboa fan a few years ago, and it has to be one of the big recent tragedies that he walked away from the Rios fight and suffered the way he did for it. Holy hell would he have been big after winning that fight, and I definitely believe he would have won. I'm talking Arum jumping him another division to fight Pacquiao big.

No matter where his career goes from here, Gamboa will always be a big question mark. He basically lost three prime years in his career. At three fights a year, he would've had nine fights instead of three. Nine fights! Given where Yuri's career was at the point where things came apart, he could've been a big star by now.

Do I think he would've beat Rios? I don't know, but the guy that showed up to fight Abril looked beatable. It would've been a terrible idea for Gamboa to fight Pacquiao, but I'm sure Yuri would've jumped at the chance. Back before his fall from grace, Gamboa was talking about it. He seems willing to do anything for a big score.

The Gamboa that fought Crawford would lose to Mikey. If Yuri got his act together, maybe. At this point, that's a big "if."

No excuses. Shows loyalty to promoter and corner. Accepts personal responsibility.

Hopefully everyone else will use this as an example on how to handle a situation that doesn't go your way.

                  Very impressive.

Where've you been, bro? I haven't seen you around in a while.

I can't tell you how much I miss Salas for Yuri's sake. Gamboa's dad is doing him no good. I don't care what Yuri says.
