Comments Thread For: Yuriorkis Gamboa: I Think I Could Have Continued

CenturyLink Center, Omaha - In a battle of identical professional records, WBO lightweight champion Terence Crawford (23-0, 16KOs) had too much firepower for Olympic gold medal winner Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-1, 16KOs), as a crowd of over 10,000 cheered Crawford on. Gamboa was dropped four time in the contest, including two big knockdowns in the ninth, which forced the referee to wave things off.

He obviously would have kept getting up until he got seriously permanently hurt or worse. The ref did the right thing too much heart for his own good.

Gamboa, yes, you could have continued but I don't think you would have walked out of the arena had you done so.

Gamboa has too much heart which could damage a fighters career!! The stoppage was. Justified and he gets to fight another day. Thats what is important!

good stoppage, he left with some dignity and can bounce back, a TKO like Pac / JMM 4 would've dented his career, and it probably woulda gone that way had it continued

I don't expect him to agree with the stoppage but looking at how he went all out he knew the end was near.
