not really he didn't have to be that reckless he might of still loss the UD but I don't think he would of been KTFO if he didn't stay in Crawford range to long, he abandoned the body work late too I thought that was working best for GamboaComment

Eh, I don't buy that as a reason, he would have made more money fighting 3 times a year at 126 then taking these long breaks and fighting every other year.
Its really a shame what happened to his career. They were trying to cash out on him with the Rios fight by moving him up 2 divisions and putting him in with a guy that was draining himself to make 135, and they did it again tonight.
I don't think he has it in his heart anymore. You heard it in the pre-fight interview, he is doing it for his family, thats it.
Its probably the end for his career. Too small for the division, getting up there in age, regressing in style, and out of the public consciousness for too long.Comment

At the end of the day gamboa proved he belonged and that he was a throwback fighter and this loss should do nothing to hurt his rep or keep him from feeding his family! His stock rose imo..Comment

He was getting checked with the hook coming in, he had to lunge in off balance to even reach Crawford, and he did keep to the body. Its just the reality of the size difference. He could have theoretically boxed a more technical style and survived and lost a UD, but trying to win, there weren't any other options for him.
Obviously he had some ****** wreckless moments where he had crawford in some trouble and just stood there after unloading combinations, but some of that is once again down to size, with Gamboa being in positions he is usually safe in, that are not safe places against someone with the size and reach of Crawford.Comment

130 is still to big for him. If he can't make 126, he might as well hang them up. 126 and go for donaire. Thats his best bet to revive his career. That's the problem. Gamboa has grew he's walking around down here in Miami at 150 you really think he can make a healthy 126 at now 32? That's my point. If he can get down to 130 he can reign but that will require more work than he's willing to give I think. He will probably be hard headed and try and stay at 135 or god forbid consider moving up

His stock may have rose in your mind. But pretty much all the commentators were saying it's just about over and I agree. Gamboa been having all kinds of legal issues and other stuff going on I don't think his hearts in it 100% even when I saw training clips it just seemed as if he was just going through the motions, really wasn't listening to what his corner was saying either, just fighting on pure skill and instincts. great fight but no one wants to fight Gamboa though..Comment
