When you've a champion and a mandatory who were supposed to fight in March and then in May...and finally in July I think that's a fair time to use a mandatory personally. It's not quite the situation they were brought in for but Tomoki did apparently suffer an injury hence one of the many reasons why the fight has been pushed back.
Japan do recognise the WBO and a lot of fuss is being made over Takayama challenging for the WBO title as he attempts to "collect the set". It's not got a long history in Japan sure but neither have the IBF who were at the summit.
I understand the point though I think aiming the anger at the WBO having 1 super champion (Narvaez, who has defended his title 10 times) and 1 interim is misguided. The anger should be at the "WBO European" title and stuff like that which really does irk me. At least they don't have a "WBO European Silver Youth title" or sanctioning bouts like Oquendo Vs Chagaev for a "world" title.
