The WBO were 'legitimised' in the sport by powerful promoters. Its no coincidence you find most Top Rank fighters fighting for WBO titles. Frank Warren had the same arrangement when he was relevant. Unfortunately I have to agree with Sulaiman on this one (shudder). The WBO still arent recognised in many parts of the world, Japan for example, and non participation in the summit seems counter intuitive to me.
When you've a champion and a mandatory who were supposed to fight in March and then in May...and finally in July I think that's a fair time to use a mandatory personally. It's not quite the situation they were brought in for but Tomoki did apparently suffer an injury hence one of the many reasons why the fight has been pushed back.

Japan do recognise the WBO and a lot of fuss is being made over Takayama challenging for the WBO title as he attempts to "collect the set". It's not got a long history in Japan sure but neither have the IBF who were at the summit.

I understand the point though I think aiming the anger at the WBO having 1 super champion (Narvaez, who has defended his title 10 times) and 1 interim is misguided. The anger should be at the "WBO European" title and stuff like that which really does irk me. At least they don't have a "WBO European Silver Youth title" or sanctioning bouts like Oquendo Vs Chagaev for a "world" title.

Do some RESEARCH dude, the WBO doesn't have "super champs" nor "Regular" like the WBA nor "Emeritus Champs" nor "Silver Champs" nor "Platinum, Copper or whatever champs like the WBC, where have you been? Yes, the WBO has Interim titles, just like the rest of the abc orgs.

War Tomoki!!!!! Nice sig. I feel like the IBF should be more respected. If the wbo can truly call themselves legitimate. They should go to these events.

Valcarcel is an idiot for jabbing at the other bodies for their extra titles when he literally sells title shots through the "WBO International" belt aka "Pay for this sanction and win to get put in the top 10 belt"

The wbo belts should be minor belts fighters get before going after one of the top three.

First off rigo is not my idol although he is in my top ten for whooping your idols azz phonito. The wbo has not been around that long and does not have the credibility as the main three. The wbc ibf and wba are by far more recognized than the wbo.

The WBO do have super champions, though not in the same manner as the WBA, look at Wlad for example. I do agree with the poster above in saying this isnt what i should be focussing on, though my point is, and will remain to be, that the WBO have silly titles, albeit not as many as the WBA/WBC, and so shouldnt be on a moral high horse. Have you forgotten the WBO Champion of the Decade belt? Watch Pac-Marquez 4.

The IBF dont have interim champs, youd be looking at a really obscure scenarip where youd ever find one of those.

As for the case in Japan, i wasnt aware the WBO gained recognition in Japan... I knew the IBF only recently has. Can you point me to sanctioned WBO title fights in Japan?
