The fighters of today want to take the least amount of risk for the most amount of money, and while this is not necessarily good for the fans, it's great for the fighters and that's why they all love Al Haymon. To put it simple.. The "For the fans" approach that Oscar is preaching could backfire on him if the fighters turn against him. IMO Oscar really should contact HBO and get some fights setup on premium cable's premier Network.. It's smart business and great exposure for his fighters.
If you want to be healty and all, I understand, but I want to be entretained and am sure as hell that my hard earned money will never be wasted on a subpar mismatch. Either you fight who you supposed to or forget about getting raitings and PPV money from real boxing fans!

I love Oscar's way of thinking. Putting fans first.
I hope he isn't too naive about this business though.

Oscar may be free of drugs but..
Remember that an ex-addict still has the habits of telling people what they want to hear (just for the fans) to get over. Those demons arent quickly expelled overnight. Traits of additive lingers a while. Maybe he should try Pac's remedy. Get saved!

Wish Oscar all the best
I admire Oscar, his courage, his achievements, his motivation. But telling it like it is doesnot make one a hater or less of a fan of boxing. I just don't ride coattails and speak on things the way they are. Only thing I hate is that Oscar put himself in that situation. Still support and admire him for his battle and comeback

Oscar while he continues to say he has the "fan interest in mind" And is trying to make things happen, is an ex alcoholic and drug user. Oscar checked out of his own company for 2-3 years and they were rough years for gbp also and the same dude that everyone seems to hate is the one that kept the company up and moving forward. Oscar was not around when Arum was attacking the company in the media, even calling Oscar all kinds of names but sugar coating it by saying " I hope he gets the help he needs. Oscar was not around to defend his company, he wasn't around to defend his fighters or help them. How does the saying go, "You only gotta suck one **** to be labeled gay for the rest of your life. Well Oscar was an alcoholic, coke head, and womens clothes wearing fruit. and he will never escape that stigmata. The fighters on the label while they respect Oscar im sure will never forget what he did, they won't forget him being missing for all that time. He wasn't there for Canelo on the biggest fight of his life. (Yes he needed to go back into rehab I understand these things but its a mark for being responsible for ones actions.) They know who was running the company and who was helping them out. None of the above is to say that the man had a problem and needed help, he got it and thats great. Its to point out that, while he has the best intentions now and that is great, he will most likely be handled by others mentally based on his past actions. I don't believe that Bob will do any real business with Oscar, he doesn't respect him as a man. Look at it like this, Would you let a rehabilitated crack head watch your kids? Would you let a rehabilitated coke head handle your money in your accounts? Idk I wouldn't I would wish them the best in life but Im gonna want my precious things handled or cared for by more responsible people. So as much good Oscar wants to do, and I pray he can overcome the BS and make it happen. But in the Manly world that Boxing is where image is significant part of your marketability Oscar is playing with a severe disadvantage. It was fine when he was just a figurehead and others were running the show his image didn't reflect badly on his company. Now as the boss and the "bad guys" have left who were running the ship very well, his image is making gbp look weak.
Just a thought I had as man in this world and was curious if others see it as well. When I think ODH I see fishnet stockings and hookers, but with my mouth I say "Im glad he is doing well and trying to do the best for boxing. Which I believe and mean 100% but its not the leading image of ODH. Im prolly just high on this reality stuff though.Last edited by SUBZER0ED; 06-26-2014, 12:10 PM.
