The World Boxing Association has ruled that Erislandy Lara (18-1-2, 12KOs) vs. Austin Trout (26-1, 14KOs) will have the WBA's "regular" junior middleweight title at stake. Lara-Trout takes place on December 7th in a Showtime televsied clash from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The previous "regular" champion, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, fought the WBA's "super" champion at 154 - Floyd Mayweather Jr. - on September 14th and lost a twelve round majority decision at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather will remain as the "super" champion at 154, according to the WBA.

According to Boxrec, Canelo won the Super version of the title off of Trout. I thought Trout was the "regular" champ while Floyd had been the "Super" champ since Cotto.

So did they strip Floyd when he fought Guerrero and promote Canelo to "Super" champ? I thought that unifying WBA titles would eliminate the "regular" version, as with Klitschko-Povetkin.

              This **** is disgusting.

Pacquiao is 0 - 2 in his last 2 fight and if you look at the WBO ranking Pac is the new WBO super champion ( Bradley WBO world champion)

Did you know, the WBA got this idea from Lennox Lewis? I don't think he wanted this disgrace though

Thanks for the feedback but hmmm what if I told you both that you could be wrong. The whole title thing is crazy but I'll break it down for ya lol. Yes Lara fought Angulo for the WBA World Interim Title he did not fight Trout for the real title. Lara was just defending the interim title but the commentators and ring announcer fail to acknowledge that just saying its for the "WBA World Title" when really its not I saw the same case with Byran Vazquez's recent fight hes not the WBA champ Uchiyama is. The real WBA title holder is Floyd Mayweather who he picked off the real title from Miguel Cotto in 2012 . Look on boxrec or hell rewatch the prefight pageantry to the Canelo Floyd fight it was for The real WBC title that canelo had and the real WBA (Super) World light middleweight title (not World) title that Mayweather had so technically you can say Lara has a paper of a paper title. Because if you really break it down the Title for this fight matches it perfectly (Honor+Glory) because there is no real title at stake if it is its not a real title.

Ok, I'll admit I'm wrong as long as YOU admit that you were wrong too. Lara is NOT the Interim belt holder.

There's super, world and interim. And Lara holds the World title. Don't blame me, blame the WBA.

If Floyd doesn't defend his 154lb titles this year are you still gonna call him THE champion at 154?

Agreed the WBA is a very confusing body they just need one title or like what the WBC has interim, Silver, Latino, Youth titles this it WBA way too complicated knowing who is the real champ
