I throw mine palms facing the ground.

I've trained using both methods and I feel more fluid and generate greater torque and power with palms down

In the pocket palm down (shorter hooks), outside - palm facing.

Both, but mostly palm facing down.

Close distance and check hooks palm down for me, longer distance/leads palm will face me more.

I tried my own variations, but I noticed I hit hardest using the correct form.
Yes the twist of the lead foot and hips puts your body into it...in the boxing world we call that "sitting down on your punch" i see you know your stuff

Some men can't pronate because they struggle to start their hook with their elbow down and in. Those who show the elbow flare first will usually not pronate. It's a dexterity issue! Or if the hook is needed to wrap around a glove defense then it's also wide without pronation.
Any one taught from their beginnings will be taught to pronate, the main reason is that it keeps the hook short, nothing to read by your opponent showing an elbow first, and the shorter the punch the more power generate as long as your punching "through" the target.

Both are effective but pronating punches is the correct technique. Ray.

I used to always implement palm down in sparring, but before I had my never ending operations I started using a method which resulted in a few vicious knockdown with my palm facing to the inside and my thumb being on top.

Granted it's not great technique but it sure did some serious damage to my sparring partners who stated it felt like it had the whole weight of my body behind it.

Anyway I'd still recommend palm down as if you get any other way wrong it could result in injury.
