The logic is supposed to be that when throwing a lead hook palm-down, in order to properly align your wrist you need to raise your shoulder in front of your chin, thus reducing your odds of being slipped and countered with an overhand right.
Then again every trainer has their own mythology explaining why something is done the way it is.
Really close up or just pummeling someone when you're tired every fighter I've seen regresses to palm-in, but it doesn't really matter at that point.
Broner throws most of his hooks even when he's gauging range palm-in so it often looks like he slapping his opponent across the face. At first I thought he makes lots of failed attempts to pull his opponent's gloves down but nope, that's just how he punches:

Facing the ground. Unless it's a quick check hook that I fire using my chest and arms. You twist your lead foot and twist your hips and your body which swings your arm. Your ending position should be with your body twisting sideways.
I tried my own variations, but I noticed I hit hardest using the correct form.Last edited by DARKSEID; 06-19-2014, 06:36 PM.
