When enough money is involved belts are not even important to these decisions of who's gonna be the opponent, so fighters don't really have any pressure to fight anybody. They rather drop a belt, or even not fight for the belt just to avoid the % fees, latest example is Canelo vs Lara. Canelo doesn't want to pay the fees so the fight is not even for the belt on his side.

Purse bids won't help because if you hold one title you can't be a mandatory for another.

Mayweather was threatening to drop the WBC belt but the WBC refuses to strip him if he doesnt fight Pacquiao, because whomever he fights even if it's not Manny, the WBC still gets a nice big sanctioning fee.

They basically allow the high profiles to duck mandatories.

Yea, he didnt have a major title after that fight. Once he won Tim's WBO title back, he lost his ranking with the WBC.

If Belt Organizations get off of their a$$es and stop taking extra pay to allow Mayweather and others to sit on titles and do what they want and fight who they want, it would be better for boxing

I think that has to do more with sanctioning bodies forcing fights. It happens to lesser fighters. I know WBC made Lara(Haymon) and Vanes(Arum) fight for the WBC eliminator.

Sanctioning bodies don't have this kind of power against the bigger and more popular fighters.

Purse bids only works, when the fighters care about the title. When is about big fights, its actually the organizations almost crying to have their belt put up in the match, so they can collect sanctioning fees. How many Mandos. have, Floyd, Cotto or Manny done after they became stars? 0

Lomanchenko was the WBO mandatory so it went to a purse bid. GBP won the rights. They wouldn't be working together without the purse bid
