I just see crossfit as a way of motivating people who would be otherwise unmotivated to exercise. Just doing slow steady reps is boring. You have to be a mentally intense (or really dumb) person to commit to it day after day without drifting away.

Get a room full of people doing crazy jerky motions, dropping dumbells on each other and showing off their scars and realizing after a few months of exercising to near unconsciousness they have abs = $$$.

Rebranding stuff that already existed as "TOTALLY XXXTREEEEM" is big cash. Just look at the UFC.

Like I said, CF is their own worst enemy... ofc HIIT makes you "nearly pass out"

Whatever, I find it to be a good workout regimen, just don't go full ****** and drink the Kool-Aid

I'd say that things such as crossfit can be a great supplementary element but it should never take priority over your boxing routine.
Of course you want a boxer to use any form of exercise as a secondary element and the actual skill as primary that's indisputable. What im talking about is other than their boxing training(bag, shadow, sparring, double end, speed bag, etc) when boxers workout for conditioning the training is very weak in the sense it involves no core. Since cf is an all core workout and because of the movements in makes you more explosive, stronger(in the core) and works your heart rate just like fighting. And yes skills are more important!! You can look and be in incredible shape...that don't mean you can throw it down

If you listen to any credible sports trainer they **** royally on Crossfit, it has an injury rate of 40%, do you realise how high that is? If you owned a gym and 4 in every 10 guys you trained got injured you would be thrown in prison!
I have to disagree with you...
First, mma guys are ahead of boxers in their conditioning and yes many use cf or similar training.
Second, I owned a gym that also had cf and never once did a member get hurt. It's all about proper form and go at your own pace. Yes there are dumbazz that don't teach proper technique and want you to lift a house.

Not that I'm a supporter, it's just really a HIIT method that sometimes uses Olympic weightlifting in its routine.

A workout is usually in this structure:
5-10 minute warm up, with mostly plyometric and/or Calisthenic work
10-20 minutes to work on different weightlifting techniques, whatever the programmer decides to program (Squats, Overhead squats, cleans, jerks, etc)
10-20 minute workout, for reps and time, or sometimes rounds. There's no real overall thing that they do... it's mostly designed to push you to near max HR
              5-10 Cooldown and stretching

So it's basically just high reps?

                What else separates it?

The weightlifting aspect can be for high reps, or 1 rep max. 1RM usually goes every 6-8 weeks, to measure improvement.

The workout can be low rep too, there's been times when it's low rep but heavy enough to get your heart rate to explode. One in particular that I remember was a 10 minute as many reps as possible of 5x 275Deadlifts, 10 Double Unders, 15 Pull-Ups.

Another one was every minute on the minute (20 minutes total, alternating minutes)
                  Odd: 10 Ring Dips
                  Even: 20 Double Unders.

I can't stress this enough, everything, except from a very few people perform at the recommended weight. Most people scale way back to something they are comfortable with

IMO it's about lifting the most, going the furthest distance, in the fastest time. In other words if I even 100 push-ups and ran a mile in 25 minutes and you did the same thing in 8 minutes who do you think train harder? And who do you think is in better shape? Have you tried Crossfit? Let me tell you I use to hate the idea of cf and laugh till I tried it and got my butt kicked!! I don't live by cf nor speak the language or wear the clothes but I respect and appreciate the workout.

The idea behind crossfit, HIIT is the best way to get into peak condition. The way they disregard form is what will always kill it for me. Insanity is plyometrics at a ridiculous pace, and it looks a lot safer in the long run.
