That's because boxing will always be a skill-first sport. Yes, certainly your condition plays a big part but doing crossfit won't make you a better boxer as much as just sticking to the basics (bags, shadow, sparring, ect.) which will also get you into shape. I'd say that things such as crossfit can be a great supplementary element but it should never take priority over your boxing routine.

There's a thread with video out there of Guerrero doing so called cross fit. I think it was hectari who made it. From what I remember he wasn't doing any of the crazy exercises that are original to crossfit. He was doing deadlifts amongst other things that strengthen core.Comment

Ahhhhh, the famed Crossfit 'Kipping' pull-up.
The correct way to do an incorrect pull-up.
And completely ruin your palms and wrists at the same time.
Highly useful for any professional boxer i'm sure...Comment

I hate the ****** religious **** that CrossFit does, but I also used it to get in shape for my fights.
I get the hate, CrossFit does it to itself really, but the injury rate isn't 40%. The most recent study found it close to 25% but it was a ****** small sample (10 people).
And in regards to kipping pullups - Have you guys ever seen the olympics? The ring routines, parallel and uneven bars? Those guys are consistently doing kipping pull ups. Kipping pullups aren't programmed to increase your strength, they are meant to keep your heart rate up. All of my CrossFit coaches have said that if you can't do at least 5-10 dead hang pullups, kipping isn't for you.Comment
