Comments Thread For: Oscar De La Hoya: ‘It’s Not About Promoters and Egos’

The talk of Oscar De La Hoya’s apparent rift with adviser Al Haymon isn’t dying down anytime soon.

In a Tuesday conference call ahead of welterweight Robert Guerrero’s Saturday night bout in Carson, California, against Yoshihiro Kamegai (24-1-1, 21 KOs), the Golden Boy president refused to comment whether or not Guerrero (31-2-1, 18 KOs) is still signed with the promotional company.

However, he did praise featherweight Gary Russell (24-0, 14 KOs), who meets Top Rank-promoted Vasyl Lomachenko (1-1, 1 KO) in a title clash on the undercard.

Rift with Al Haymon? Not sure how he is referring to Haymon being that Guerrero and Russell are both with Haymon and Haymon is not even a Promoter

While Oscar is talking about working with everyone, I haven't heard anything from Arum and trying to work with Oscar Publicly

        Promoter War

It looks like Oscar is the only one trying to do anything about the promoter problems.

It's a shame how boxing is today. I love the sport, and always will, but this shit is ridiculous.

I support Oscar in this but the other promoters and TV networks have to do their part too.

It won't work if De La Hoya is the only one taking any concrete steps to fix boxing.

Mite have to come down from following the sport religiously. It's just not possible with guys like Haymon,Richard and Espinoza who are just killing it for the fans. Boxing just gives it's fans to much bs.Its fn ridiculous. The World Cup reminds you how great sports can be.

Hold on, it seems like most fighters that fight under GBP are not in contract with them. If that's the case, yes cold war is over, but who does GBP have under contract to fight vs TR fighters? We all know those who have no obligation to GBP and are advised by Haymon are not fighting TR fighters. So if I'm not mistaking, in reality everything just got worse. those free agents Haymon advised fighters won't fight GBP fighters or TR fighters. Nice work everyone

Oscar is more important than haymon. Oscar can just get more young blood no problem. Its golden boy. If u ink with haymon it means nothing ur still going to loose, broner, lucas, trout, maidana.
