You have a good point. Pac vs. Algeri is not horrible if it is not a PPV. Mayweather vs. Maidana was not really PPV status. It's not like Maidana KO'd Broner. It's just ironic that Arum calls for a boycott of Floyd's fight for being lopsided, then proposes Pac vs. Algeri. That's just plain hypocrisy.

...and if Algieri beats Pacquiao then what? As far as people not buying it I say bull****....there is NOBODY more marketable than Algieri...they can market the hell out of him! Plus facts support him being a sell. The Ruslan vs Algieri HBO telecast had over 1 million viewers. Marketed the right way I think it would do very well.

If no Haymon fighters then Pac is screwed. Algieri and Abregu won't sell well on ppv. And Top Rank is out of options for him, who else is there? Jessie Vargas?

Give JMM the 50/50 split that he wants. It's either that or have the balls to fight Canelo like Floyd did.

Pac flat out refused to fight yuri forman. There is no way he gets in the ring with canelo.
Just like he will never fight swift. I think pac would fight canelo, I think pac would fight floyd. But arum will not let those fights happen unless he gets options on those fighters.

With respect i seriously doubt that Algieri would stand a chance with Manny. That being said I do believe people would buy the PPV for Manny and him alone. Algieri while popular in and around his home town and to his credit did sell a lot of "seat" tickets to the Fight he is NOT the marketable commodity that you say he is. He was virtually unknown in the Boxing fan world and yes now people do know who he is due to his win but before he was an ESPN, CTV fighter. As far as "Marketing the hell out of him" i don't see whats so marketable...he does not possess great punching power, his boxing skills while good are NOT world class the way Floyd, Manny, Cotto, Garcia, JMM and the other top ranked Boxers are. In short it's a risk...a calculated risk if you will to any promoter in having him fight an A list fighter and at the end of the day regardless of all the talk and hype I seriously doubt that he will get that shot. In fairness I could be wrong, I give him his due and i respect his win but i seriously doubt that he will have the ability to hold onto his belt for long. Yes he beat Ruslan but the type of fighter that he beat is not an impossible feat to achieve considering the way Ruslan just keeps moving forward with very little defense. Ruslan IMHO takes too many punches....he will take 3 to get one in and that is a very dangerous situation to be in when you step into the squared circle and the scorecards support that analysis. Last - Pac would be a huge payday for Algieri and his people know it - hence the savage aggression in trying to make it happen. Personally i would rather see his people "bring him along", develop him and fight say Alverado, Chino or maybe even Rio's and if he wins build on that instead of trying to cash in. It would be more credible for his career if he rose to the occasion and then fought Manny. It's all way too premature and I have no clue as to why Arum even has him on his radar at this point in time.

excuse me, but i don't believe we've met. I don't believe you were with me watching pacquiao battle morales, barrera, etc. I served 21 years in the navy, and have a good relationship with many filipinos, so manny was the life of the fight parties, manny built comraderie amongst us all, as well as bridged the cultures. Manny is the ali of the phillipipines, and i have mad respect for him for his love of his people.

Who i am not a fan of is bob arum. You can be a tyson fan, and dislike don king. You can be an ali fan, and dislike don king. Therefore it is entirely plausible to be a manny fan and dislike bob arum. I have a very strong su****ion of who poisoned the game, and i happen to believe it was/is bob arum. That's why we're here discussing a fight with chris algeri. Floyd is not the blame. Manny is not the blame. The blame falls squarely on bob arum.

Fought Margarito after the savage beating Mosley him. Fought Mosley after a loss to Floyd and what should have been a loss to Mora. Fought the re and rubber matches with Morales following him being outclassed by Zahir Raheem. And the list goes on and on. I don't care what the name on the front of the trunks says. Its about when the fights happened.

I say that all the time. its not always about who you fight, yet when you fight them.
