if pac put that ko behind him, why is HE entertaining another fight with marquez? it's because he doesn't want to live with the fact that a 40 year old can spark his ass out on any given saturday and his ppv's # have been crap by his standards lately. marquez is entertaining it cause it's the biggest money fight, but lets not act like he needs the money.....last time i checked marquez wasn't getting ****d by two governments and marquez has been on plenty of ppv's but was he was rarely the A side so the pressure isn't on him to make the big money fights.

been saying it all along. if marquez was never interested in a 5th fight he would have walked away. but why is he still trying to entertain a 5th fight with manny when i thought he said he rather keep the feeling of knocking manny out? marquez is just trying to get more money out of this but like u said he phucked up already by declining a pac rematch then losing to bradley afterward. if the 5th fight with manny happens, marquez is gonna end up with 6-8mil which is still way way more than a mayweather jack pot.

Unless you're Miguel Cotto (Free Agent), then you get $8 million guaranteed plus PPV incentives, which is of course the most money he ever made at the time. Very smart move by Cotto!

The leverage that Pac has no lucrative opponents to fight.

A fifth fight with JMM would be his biggest seller at the moment (outside of Floyd) so that makes Marquez a very valuable commodity.

yet pac will still make $20mil fighting a bum. so im not sure where ur going with this. as for marquez how much will he make fighting anyone else not name manny?

Marquez wasn't making big money. He felt he's been robbed by judges a few times. Then he knocks Manny the **** out in the fourth fight. He knows Manny needs a worthy opponent for a PPV, and right now he's the only worthy opponent that is not signed with Al Haymon. That's why JMM is stalling. That's called using leverage.

I don't think Luis Abregu would be a cherry-pick, he just won't help sell PPVs. Algeri...that's a cherry-pick!

The bigger issue that the house that Bob Arum is holding together on the shaky legs of aging fighters is the lack of intriguing opponents for Pacquiao to fight. But you will be hard pressed to find a name among Top Rank’s welterweights that the general public will not meet with a shrug of indifference aside from Ruslan Provodnikov. If you look at the top ten welterweights and junior welterweights, you’ll see that they are either Al Haymon fighters, Golden Boy fighters, Showtime fighters or a combination of all three. At 140, Danny Garcia, Lucas Matthysse and Adrien Broner would all be formidable opponents if it wasn’t for the fact that they live on the other side of the fence. The same can be said for Marcos Maidana, Shawn Porter, Keith Thurman and Amir Khan at 147. If Pacquiao were to carefully venture to 154, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez could be a massive fight if he was an Arum guy. But, alas, he’s not.

So what does this leave Manny Pacquiao with?

He already beat up Brandon Rios. Mike Alvarado – who split a pair of fights with Rios – was thoroughly outclassed by old man Marquez. He’s beaten Timothy Bradley once officially, although it should be twice. And…that’s it.

That is really it. More importantly, there are no young welterweights on the horizon that could rise up to the challenge. Terence Crawford and Yuriorkis Gamboa are two potential names that could eventually end up with a Pacman fight. However, Gamboa’s horrible business sense and the fact that Crawford could walk into a room and nobody would have a clue who he is areboth problematic .

And considering that Pacquiao is no longer the one-sided draw like that Mayweather fellow – who has set himself up with an intriguing rematch with Maidana due to the madman's strategy or simply overlooking him the first time around – Top Rank has one hell of a task on their hands when it comes to generating casual fan interest. The moment Pac hit the deck against Marquez, the invincible aura that made him must-see television whether he was fighting a man, a Scooby Doo van or a tomato can were all shattered.

The pay per view returns on his last two fights – Brandon Rios and Timothy Bradley – were disappointing with Rios selling 500k and Bradley hovering around 750k. The gate on his rematch with Bradley ended up being his lowest in years. Arum won’t admit it, but he certainly is panicking. Without another marquee name in his stable to match Pac with, those PPV numbers could continue to drop."

a perfect example of someone putting a lost behing them is the carl froch-andre ward situation...pac has NOT put that ko lost behind him...marquez is 40 yr old.....i admit he is fighting for money(which is the only reason he is entertaining a pac fight) and a fifth belt.....but if marquez had the opportunity to fight porter for his title, i think he'd be happy with his career and retire!!! He already beat the **** outta pac and he ain't the one being rapped by two governments. marquez has the leverage.
