Comments Thread For: Malignaggi: I Had Provodnikov Losing 8 To 4 in Rounds

Former two division world champion Paulie Malignaggi, who sat ringside at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Saturday night, felt Chris Algieri put on a boxing clinic to capture the WBO junior welterweight championship from the heavily favored Ruslan "Siberian Rocky" Provodnikov.

Two judges scored it 114-112 for Algieri and the third had Provodnikov way up with a 117-109 tally. Algieri was down twice in the first round and his right eye was damaged from the first knockdown. By the midway point of the fight, Algieri's eye was practically swollen shut and his nose was continuously bleeding.

Paulie Still Has Concussion Symptoms From His Beatdown To Porter

Mags having been dismantled recently and never had the ballz to sign up for Provo, isn't going to be complimentary to Provo. 8-4? Nobody saw it close to that at ringside. Mags is an idiot, STILL.

pot shotting powder puff punches doesnt always win rounds either. I had it 6-6. Good point about Provodnikov's inability to adjust.

So he basically saw it like the two New Yorker judges, which would still be a 114-112 fight with the two knockdowns. Must be a New York thing.

Means nothing. Mags is only scoring how he wants his fights to be scored, seeing how a prime Mags has many similarities to Algieri. I'm sure he would've scored the Broner fight for himself as well.

Paulie scored Broner-Maidana a draw. Great commentator, but not the best at scoring fights.

It's no surprise he'd back a fellow New York "boxer" over a power puncher from abroad.

Makes sense. That's the most common score in favor of Algieri.

That was through and through bias. He was so salty for that fight. The context is he had just lost to Broner and was gunning for a rematch and was feeling some type of way that Chino turned over the apple cart.
