Mauricio Herrera and Chris Algieri: the top two at 140?

Herrera already exposed danny garcia and ruslan provodnikov, so Algieri basically followed his blueprint in the ruslan fight, i'm sure he'd probably beat garcia just as easily as herrera did..

i think those two are the top 2 at 140 right now, who you got as the top 2?

Herrera took the fight to Garcia. And boxed superb. Algieri ran and threw jabs all night to keep a limited fighter off of him and win a controversial decision.

    Don't compare the two.

They aren't the top 2. Herrera has had several fortunate decisions and those losses and Algieri just got a gift in a close fight, his coming out party. Herrera should be champ, no doubt, but that wouldn't make him the best, just the better operator between him and Garcia.

He pressed the action, he had Garcia backing up, busted up, retreating.

None of which Algeiri did to Ruslan at any time of the fight.

I'm not saying Herrera didn't jab all night either, I'm just pointing out what Algeiri did to win his fight.

watch herrera vs ruslan you'll see herrara outjabbed him like crazy and fought him on the backfoot most of the time, just like algieri did.. so the performances were similar in many respects..

i said before that i think algieri would beat garcia in the same way herrera did, but garcia is a different fighter, he's not a face first brawler like prov so algieri's performance against garcia would be different to his performance against prov, just like herrera's performance was different for those two opponents.

but still, the jab was the key weapon in both fights so i don't know why you tried to discredit that shot, it's the most important punch in boxing

140 is a mess right now. There are so many triangle situations going on.

Matthysse makes easy work of Herrera and Algieri. Matthysse doesn't stop throwing when he gets hit like Provo does, and he has show the ability to adjust unlike Garcia could not.

                    Danny Garcia is #1.

Just shows though, everyone expected Garcia to make easy work of Herrera, Matthysse to make easy work of Molina and Ruslan to make easy work of Algeri and all 3 had very tough fights.

                    That's Boxing for you.
