  • Comments Thread For: Canelo Focused on 'Tough' Lara, Not Cotto Clash

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (43-1-1, 31KOs) made it clear that "big purses are very important" but "the most important thing is to make history. I work for that, I am very young and I want to make history."

On July 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Canelo will take on WBA 'regular' junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12KOs). Canelo continues to train in San Diego, California for what he expects to be a very dangerous challenge.

    War Canelo!!!!!!!!!!1

Canelo will win the fight. He's tougher than Lara, his chin is better, and he's stronger. Lara is a loud mouth fighter, who like Martinez, will be exposed. He's a good fighter but so is Canelo. The Angulo fight should've told the haters and critics who the better fighter between the two, really is.

I'm confident that the Canelo team know what they were into with Lara and are not going to over look him. Lara is skilled and can be a real spoiler. Not only that it can be really hard to look good against Lara.

And you know he has a chin how? Not really sure he has faced a devastating puncher.

Lara is pretty damn good, and will expose Gingermon. Like Mayweather. Lara is a very smart boxer. Canelo is to flat footed and sits on his punches. As much as I want Canelo to win so Cotto can destroy him in Dec, it's not going to happen. LARA is going to win a UD and a rematch will happen sometime in Oct or Nov.

Agreed the blueprint to beating Canelo has been laid out. Just turn him and Jab. Before he sets to punch Jab and turn him. He can't punch moving.

                  We'll see.

Canelo has been hit before. He has a very good chin. His chin is better than Lara's. I guarantee a Canelo win. Lara is a good fighter but he's in over his head. Canelo is on a mission of greatness. He reminds me of a young De La Hoya, in terms of his approach to the sport. He is everything right about the sport and so is Lara. They will fight anyone. May the best man win.

Good for Canelo to admits he is well prepared for the fight. I'll love to see no excuses on his lost after the fight
