Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez Will Take His Time To Determine Future

Following the knockout loss to Miguel Cotto, Sergio “Maravilla” Martínez is sensibly taking a break from boxing and will take his time to define his future.

Nevertheless, Sampson Lewkowicz, said that he’s sure that the former champion will not retire.

“After such great victories, he surely would love to have a fight to say goodbye to his fans," Lewkowicz suggested.

I agree. Just finish your book (s) and go into commentating or something to do with boxing. If the body won't function play to your strengths.

The man is too sexy not to be able to just walk into another job.

I always thought Sergio was a smart guy and would hang them up when the time was right. And I think that time is now. They've also said how he has invested his money. So he's not hurting for $$$ (or shouldn't be at least).

Dont tarnish what you have accomplished by fighting for a paycheck.

Translation: "I gonna take some time off and fool you guys into believing im healthy again for a last payday" lol. He had a great career, especially for a guy who started so late and he left it all in the ring...literally. An easy farewell fight in Argentina and call it quits.

It's not my place to tell a fighter when to retire, but I hope that Sergio hangs them up soon. A farewell fight against soft opposition would be fine. He'll get a good gig elsewhere. He has good looks, is well spoken and charismatic. He belongs in front of the camera somewhere.
