I'm not talking about Geale, Geale hasn't even happened yet. He is 33 and still fighting guys who, to date, are his best wins. I am pretty sure Macklin was #6 but that's one decent win in between Jr MW's and guys who can take beatings.
If Ward stays busy fighting the lower top 10 SMW's, no one would care, they would still complain about Ward having to move up in weight but give GGG a pass and ask Cotto, Mayweather, Canelo to move up and fight him.
Let's face it anyway, Geale lost to Barker, he's a decent win. The top 10 at MW is not really full of good fighters, it's more like the best of a bad bunch. Golovkin, Cotto a blown up WW, and Murray are the best fighters at MW. 160 is a weak division.
The difference between Ward and Golovkin is the difficulty Golovkin has in getting fights with anyone credible whereas with Ward he isn't getting the fights because he is overvaluing his own worth as a fighter. The junior middleweights Golovkin fought were all as big as him, Ishida and Rosado actually taller, Rosado is as much a middleweight as a junior middleweight. Ishida has recently fought at heavyweight, should we now call Ishida a heavyweight because he has fought at that weight? Or would that be just plain ******? Ouma was the only one that was more of a proper junior middleweight but he had previously fought Taylor at middleweight. The middleweight division is not one of the best divisions right now but it is certainly not one of the worst,Comment

32, what is it with people on this forum inflating fighters' ages to make them older than they are? Or are you talking about Geale?

The rust is really gonna pile up on him. Regardless, he's still gonna be expected him to fight top competition when he returns. That would be the best time to take his 0.Comment

Ward looking for big money fights but outside of GGG or Kovalev they aren't there. Just the cards he's been delt. Nobody fights at 168... it's a shame he can't make 160..Comment

The difference is Ward already fought the big names @ 168, while GGG is still trying to secure a big fight. That's why people feel that moving up to 168 before getting a big fight @ 160 is putting the cart before the horse. But now that Martinez is done and Cotto is looking for ppv worthy names, GGG should probably move up.Last edited by Light_Speed; 06-10-2014, 07:08 PM.Comment

Ward started his career at 160 then moved up for the big fights at 168, literally right before the Super Six. Why can't Golovkin do the same instead of feasting on overmatched opponents?!Comment

So according to Ward the best fights are at 168? And there's nothing at 175??? What about Hopkins, Pascal, Bute, Stevenson, Cloud, Kovalev? Or does he want to spend the best years of his career fighting the likes of Rodriguez or Bika?Comment

yeah, i wonder what you get more money (and respect) for - fighting Kovalev, or sitting on your a$$ complaining about how little money you'll get for fighting Kovalev.
I wonder if i'd get more money for sitting home and complaining that i dont get enough from my job.Comment
