I also had him losing to Murray. He should retire and he won't. Sergio is a proud man. I think he will look back in the next 6-8 weeks and want to prove that he is not as bad as he looked against Cotto. He also has one more fight on his HBO contract.

I fully expect to see Martinez fight either Rubio, Quillen, or even Golovkin in his next fight.

Maybe not anybody's knees, but that was a perfect punch. Considering Martinez probably underestimated Cotto's power and speed, how early in the fight it was, it's pretty logical that the punch would have rocked Martinez no matter what.

Think about how much slower Sergio's past opponents were. I was just as guilty at looking at the size being a factor as anybody. It turns out that Cotto being smaller was actually more important than anything. He was so much faster with his hands and on his feet than anything Martinez had seen in a long time, maybe ever. Chavez is a terrible boxer. He is only successful because of his size. Vera even outboxed him man.

Now if Cotto fights Canelo or GGG and puts on a clinic like he did Saturday then who can complain? But u Cotto fans h e to admit that was a shell of the Martinez we all knew. And if u want to gloat about tht then so be it but don't act like Cotto fought a prime agile Martinez because he didnt
So Cotto has to basically beat two of boxing's biggest and fastest rising stars to get your respect (as if that matters to him)... He has to not only beat GGG but put on a clinic against him so you can credit him with the Martinez win ? Give me a break !!! No one thought he would beat martinez let alone survive the full 12 ... He battered Martinez and made it look easy !!! Martinez looked like **** against everyone except Chavez in his last 4 fights prior to Cotto and people still picked against Miguel which goes to show you how shot they thought Cotto was ... But wait a minute if we admit Cotto isn't shot then we have to give Mayweather credit for his win and if we admit Martinez isn't shot then we have to credit Cotto ... The madness !!!! Just stop it give props where they're do and move on ...

He could probably still beat Quillin.

I'm no Cotto Stan ... Far from it. I picked Martinez to win and win BIG. I didn't even care about his knees I figured the first shot he caught cotto with was going to be enough to put him out ... I've picked AGAINST Cotto in about 3 of his last 3 fights (minus Rodriguez) ... But I won't start making excuses and making it seem like this win wasn't significant... It was ! He whooped Martinez ass from the start of the first till the end of the (9th ?) .. No one could've seen that happening even to a crippled Sergio, IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE COMPETITIVE. Cotto deserves some credit.
