I think there is a trend amongst some fans wanting to 'get rid' of GGG from the middleweights by having him move up in weight. I guess if he did it would make it just about possible for mayweather to beat somebody like Cotto and then claim to be the best middleweight in the world. If GGG is lurking at 160 though the claim will just look lame and bogus.

Can someone explain the point of Golovkin-Geale?

I have often disagreed with GGG's fans about his ATG potential or about victories in fantasy fights.
One thing though is certain , Golovkin deserves a shot at the lineal MW title more than anybody else.
He deserves the chance to fight a big name and prove to be the best MW in the world.
Geale is a good fight but at this stage of his career GG needs a bigger fish.
I am not saying Cotto, because I'd fear for Miguel's life. But if Canelo or Lara were to get the belt, then GGG should finally get his shot.

serg, murray, sturm, etc they have all been offered the fight in the past and all have passed on it for the last few years...
So GGG is stuck either going up in weight, or staying at mw and fighting the 2nd tier guys like geale..
Geale is no slouch and he will make ggg work, and will test ggg's stamina and endurance as i see geale being able to go deep into the fight..

Because no one will fight him. Murray ducks him every day, Chavez fight fell through, Qullin is all talk. Who does he fight?

People are way to disrespectful on NSB. Geale is a solid fighter, obvioulsy top 5 MW at the moment. Elite, no. Solid, yes.

Golovkin will likely knock Geale out but Geale is a top 5 middleweight and a very credible opponent.
