Right cotto you ve beat a Martinez who s way past his best, both knees damaged which became evident in round 1, and an old man. Now cotto fight GGG or Chavez if you think ur a topic ke weight.

Basically fight a legitimate middle weight who's not a cripple.

I was so wrong about this one, Martinez must have needed the money really bad.

The truth Martinez hasnt fought a caliber like Cotto. Paul Williams had no defense, Kelly Pavlik very slow and very easy to hit because no head movement. Chavez Jr. was a brawler that gets hit a lot. Martinez had no defense always fighting with his hands low. Freddie Roach really a great trainer he knows how to take advantage of your flaws because he is looking for boxer's habit in the ring.

It's extra thick in the Jr. MIddleweight and Middleweight division! Three of the four biggest draws in the sport can fight at 154 (Floyd, Cotto, and Canelo). One to watch for in the near future is Gausha (MW).

Cotto looked amazing. It was hard to watch sergio in there. He was a shell of what he used to be. Those knees were barely holding him up, time to retire. Cotto getting better with age. Lets see Cotto v. maidana thats PPV worthy or cotto GGG!
Oh and side note, lampley doesnt know his ******* from a hole in the ground, he is finished, give it up.

yup! Couldn't of said it better. Martinez caught lightning in a bottle. Even if he's 100 % healthy Cotto imho still out boxes him. Cotto timing is so effective.

First and foremost I am not a heart-driven fan for either. If anything I was always a more of a Cotto fan. I used to hate Martinez actually. Cotto showed his physical skills and executed his gameplan perfectly, but he didn't have much to worry about obviously and mental pressure seemed to always be his enemy. At like 2:05 in the 1st rd. Martinez snapped Cotto with 2 jabs that were timed exc. and they stopped Cotto in his tracks and you could see the physical differences there. Obviously immediately after Cotto hit him with the L. Hook which sent him against the ropes and then knocked down.
I'm sorry it just looked like his knee going(body) were the main factor.
I have tore my ACL and broke 5 vertebrae in my back in a car accident where I went through the windshield & landed on a log. Later the hospital weren't listening to my complaints about my knee and tried to bend it the next a.m. while I was on morphine and that hurt worse than my back had w/o morphine. Obvious point is I just think its incredible that he could do anything with those issues. I have knee issues a lot, but not terribly serious, my back is fine as long as I'm in good shape. Also im no stranger to getting beat up as ive probably woke in the E.R. 20-30 times from a later developed seizure disorder and have had many more than that #. I actually started boxing after the car accident had happened.
I don't agree that this was just simply Cotto destroying Martinez.
Freddie Roach, I am a huge fan of, and a few years ago and before Cotto would've fired him because of his mentality at that time. Too bad for Cotto because he wasn't using his full arsenal.
I have tremendous respect for Martinez being able to go that long AND actually being able to box(move, punch, defend, etc.) not to mention having a great fighter like Cotto beautifully assaulting him. Also ,if I understood correctly, his corner stopped it. Not him.
One last thing(sorry), HBO commentary is not the greatest and pretty annoying to listen to.
I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of negative reactions, but this is an honest, objective statement.
Either way both fighters deserve praise.

What I guess we all failed to predict was Martinez showing practically crippled and with knees that buckled practically every time he moved or threw a punch. I'm not blaming Martinez for showing up like that, but his team should have stopped a guy that only had heart left ot bring to the ring and no body to back it up.
