Cotto is the best fighter that Martinez has fought in a long time. You have to go back to Paul Williams to find a worthy opponent to Martinez. The first fight with Martinez and Williams fought, was a close fight and the second fight, Martinez won by way of a lucky punch. Cotto is a way better fighter then anyone that Martinez has fought since Paul Williams. Williams really wasn't that great of a fighter himself. He was just a volume puncher, which made him hard to deal with. I think that Cotto could have beat any version of Martinez.

Absolutely. I said it after the Murray fight.

Expected him to comfortably beat Cotto but it wasn't to be.

He is done, his movements restricted, his punch resistance gone. He can't sit down on his punches or throw combinations. He is a shell.
        Hard fight to watch.

I'm happy that Martinez made it to the later rounds, and respect the fortitude he displayed, but at the same time I feel the fight should have been stopped in the first. His legs were clearly fucked up, so he could neither move the way he wanted to nor throw any punches with real conviction.

He does need to retire as a bigger opponent could severely hurt him.

Clearly he was showing signs of slowing down in his last two fights. He hasn't been the same fighter since his fight with Jr. He looked old, slow, and way past his prime. Hard to watch a great fighter like Sergio fighting on bad knees. He needs to retire.

Yeah he's done. I thought he looked bad in his last fight. Tonight he looked much worse. Everything about him looked shot.

He can go work for Team Cotto as a driver or something. Easy work

Yea he's done. His legs are shot and that's a fundamental part of his in-ring abillity. He had a good run but it's time to hang them up.

Absolutely. His knee's aren't the same. For the sake of his healthy, I hope he retires. Which sucks to say because he was a bad motherf.cker just a few short years ago
