I shouldn't be replying to your post, but your idiocy need to be address. What PAC got to do with the topic at this moment? Clearly you are a fan boy of P_SSY "wear a pair of pillows or else", you know who. We just witness a history made by a puerto rican fighter and you brought up your hate on PAC in the middle of this thread? Log off, put your left hand to your throat and choke yourself with it while slap your face with your right hand. Do it, do it now...

When has Martinez ever shown a bad chin? He has always shown bad balance problems. Like in the Pavlik and Macklin fights. Cotto's knock downs were clearly the result of that on top of the fact Martinez has a busted right knee and couldnt even bend them.

This is a guy whos style literally relies on his legs.
Cotto left his left-hook in the back seat vs Trout and Marweather. Freddy says Cotto's a fool for it. I'd agree if the fight were in the LATER rounds that possibly his legs could have been the difference in the fight but not in the first round, throw that excuse out the window. Sergio has never had good defense with his hands down and Freddy's game plan exposed it.

Cotto did what he was supposed to do to a less than 100% Martinez, therefore congratulations to him. I really hate how the majority of fans will place an asterisk (including myself, I can't help it) next to Cotto's win because Martinez was not healthy in this fight whatsoever.

Thanks for showing us that but it shows that before the first left hook that landed, Sergio was moving fine, i'm not saying that he doesn't have knee problems but if they were to surface it would have been in the later rounds. Fact is Cotto hurt him very early in the fight and he just couldn't recover, other fact is that when you have been hurt that bad from 3 KD's your legs just don't work that well, it would've happened to a 100% fit fighter, notice again when Sergios head started clearing up, he started moving better again and his punches had a bit more behind them, but then he got hurt to the head again and his legs went again plus by that stage he was getting tired too. I must STRESS that i know Sergio went into the fight with bad knees, but the real damage was done early because of head shots that took Sergios legs away.

Excuses are like *******s.... With the injuries he found a way against murray... Cotto is just a completely different challenge for a guy like Martinez. I knew Cotto's speed would bother Martinez and it was apparent as he got there first every time.

            • My gut feeling was that cotto was gonna pull it of, but man is it a sad site to see a champion fall.

The left hand early turned Martinez's legs to spaghetti...

Obviously, Mayweather wouldn't dare to move up to MW to fight Cotto in a rematch...
If this was another fighter, like Ortiz, they'd be crucifying him saying that he QUIT.

Damn, PAC and Freddie tandem gives nightmares to the father and son? Anyway, back tot the topic. That was a great win by Cotto and Freddie, congratulations in advance for Freddie to win his 7th TOTY.

They were crucifying Cotto the way they were crucifying Garcia before he fought Matthysse. Saying Cotto is gonna get murdered, he's way in over his head, etc, etc.

Exactly! This felt like the Garcia-Mathessye build up, with so many people saying Cotto had no shot. That, in combination with Cotto being the technically sound fighter of the two, made me feel Cotto had a great shot. Jeez that was awesome!

Agreed, Martinez himself said Cotto caught him cold and couldn't recover from the shock. The delicate knee did not help though, that's a factor that cannot be ignored. You can tell how he walks to his corner late in the fight, I have a right knee problem myself and I know the tendencies I do to prevent the pain from increasing when I'm exercising. He sort of floats the whole leg so he won't strain it as much. I agree though, Cotto's bullrush caused everything to crumble.
