No I don't think so. That was not caused by a headbutt. That was caused by two right hooks that Vargas received on the first flury of punches that Mosley unleashed in the very first round. If indeed that was a headbutt the result should have been a cut.

Another 6 minutes of pounding on that swollen eye could have resulted in a permanent eye damaged for Vargas.

That was a very good fight, but there are rules to protect the lives and health of the fighters so it has to be implemented no matter what. That's why they call boxing a sport because it is bounded by rules.

Mosley was a little better than Vargas last night but they both showed that they are done as far as the elite fighters are concerned. They should just rematch and make some money then ride off in the sunset because there isn't too many places either guy can go.

It was an entertaining fight and I had Mosley up by a point after 9. The fight was going his way and was eventually going to get stopped. What the hell was Dan Rafael watching? I saw on ESPN news that he had it a shutout for Mosley and they even reported that Mosley dominated from the start.

From my observations.......that swellin started after the 1st round by a head-butt,and looked pretty bad already going into the second. Then Mosley started hitting it and making it worse and worse. At the time of the stoppage i had Vargas up by 1 round and i think he was getting better and better as the fight progresed,even w/ the eye,but i cant complain about the stoppage even though i wooda liked to see it go on. I think Vargas would win a rematch, Mosley got very lucky his eye started swelling like that. But the swelling started w/ a headbutt,and was made worse by continuous punches to the same spot. Either way, Vargas proved once again hes a warrior who will never quit and should fight on,i think he wooda won that fight.
