Vargas did way better than I expected, but still lost. He ate way too many right hands, and if Mosley had a bigger punch at this weight, it would have been over early.

It was a good stoppage. All the extra pressure on the eye can't be good. Vargas is better off to lose and fight another day than get a detached retina or worse. It's disappointing to see a fight end like that, but Mosley won fair and square.

Mosley did great

Wow i am impressed, thats the best hes looked since 2001 by far. Vargas had some good rounds in there and ha snothing to be ashamed at all. The stoppage could be argued but i could see it, i mean his eye was awful and if he wouldnt have got stopped he would have taken some bad punches in the next 2 1/2 rounds. im glad none of them got hurt cause i love both fighters, now mosley at 34 is in a great place and vargas has plenty of time to do plenty more in the sport at only 28. no point in a rematch, i didnt score the fight tonight but i would say mosley should be up at least 6-3 going in to the 10th.

hes not all the way back, but his combos to the head and body were very very good tonight, maybe at 147 he can getall the way back. i dont think he will beat floyd or zab though, but other than that he will murder anyone in that division, or anyone moving up from 140 - cotto, hatton, etc...

Allright, you nuts, here is how I saw the fight.

Mosley was dominating rounds 1-3. He seemed a bit tired, but being 34 and fighting in a higher weight class I'm not surprised.

He took rounds 4 and 5 off, but still managed to do very well in round 4 and make it even, even thought he took it off. Vargas dominated in round 5.

However at this point it was obvious that Mosleys gameplan has changed from body work and activity like in rounds 1-3 to working on that eye, and thats what he did onwards from round 5.

Vargas looked great, but Mosley was much better. Even thought the fight was close on the scorecards, WE all know that Mosley was being more effective in the overall fight because he was concentrating on that eye and dominated many more rounds than Vargas. end of story, goodnight.

I don't know, I think before the lump over his eye, Mosley was dominating, then he got tired and took two rounds off and still managed to put up a solid even round 4, and then just get beat in round 5. Then afterwards he did a good job and definetly dominated up to 5 solid rounds while only 1 round was dominated by Vargas before his eye was completely closed.

Yeah, I don't think there needs to be a rematch. Vargas was coming on, but he was using his head very often and covering up his face, so it was uneffective pressuring, but I think that Mosley let him progress at that point so he can land more solid shots on his eye, what do you think?
