Vargas' swollen eye was kind of weird, I heard that when a fighter lost to many weight faster than it should be that's what happen, because he was hit by Tito and DLH and he wasn't that swollen at all Vargas was fighting similar to the Hatton-Zoo fight with his head in Mosley's chest with lots of pressure and body shots .IMHO if wasn't for the eye Vargas would have won, he proved that he was way stronger and scored the heavier shots. He defenatly was having his way before his eye was closed. Congratulations to Sugar though.

See, that is where I think you are mistaken. Mosley dominated the first 3 rounds. His game plan to pressure to the body was working fine. Then he took 4 and 5 off, and was dominated one of the two rounds and the other was even, even thought Mosley was taking a rest, so that goes to tell you how well he was doing. Afterwards, he changed his startegy completely to target that eye. So even thought Vargas was artifically winning the rounds, Mosley was the one with a true gameplan and focus, at that point. Mosley would have won by UD.

I agree. I think Vargas was a little timid at first in punching. And it was the waiting game with Mosley. Or Mosley was "tense" as Steward described it. It just seemed like Mosley was fighting off what Vargas was doing more than being the leader.

Yeah, I don't think there needs to be a rematch. Vargas was coming on, but he was using his head very often and covering up his face, so it was uneffective pressuring, but I think that Mosley let him progress at that point so he can land more solid shots on his eye, what do you think?

Another 6 minutes of pounding on that swollen eye could have resulted in a permanent eye damaged for Vargas.

That was a very good fight, but there are rules to protect the lives and health of the fighters so it has to be implemented no matter what. That's why they call boxing a sport because it is bounded by rules.
