froch is a true warrior. at least he is honest and not leading the fans or ward on that he wants to fight him.

it is better than not openly ducking.

hopkins also admitted he does not want to fight ward because of ward's style .

plus, the fans do not want to see the fight. fans want to see mayweather vs pacquaio for example.

thats my only contribution to this thread. ive seen better threads.

trust when i say this, froch isn't worried about ward's inactivity making him a lesser fighter. would froch so openly be avoiding the best fighter in the division if he thought he could win?
Why does my nationality matter? I'm a Ward fan and I have a massive amount of respect for Froch. Its like I said before, its about money at this stage. He probably has 2 fights left and wants to tick a couple of boxes. He has repeatedly stated his desire to reverse his loss, but you have a problem with a guy like him taking a much bigger money vegas fight first? If he does take the Chavez fight and beats him it will actually help create some demand for a fight with Ward, a fight which has no public clamour at the moment. My tuppence worth, anyway.

ward;s also not "desperate" for a paycheck. i'm sure he'd like big fights, but it's not like he's starving. he made 2 million in purse against rodriguez.

ward's main issue right now is his promotor.
They've been here and done this. You, I, the rest of us, Ward and Froch knows who'll win if they fight again. Ward is number 1 and Froch number 2. That doesn't mean there's anything different concerning outcome. It is an attempted cherrypick by Ward. They fought and he already won. Froch doesn't want to fight him again. Ward keeps trying to fight a man he can beat rather easily.

Can't believe I am saying this but the rematch would be on Ward. Ward should go to England and fight Froch. Ward is an awesome fighter but he is...out of BIG money-making opponents in the US and needs to raise his profile. He is very well known to hard core fans but not to casuals. Froch is correct in going after Chavez, Kessler, and GGG. They are all huge fights and great style match-ups for him. I am a big GGG fan but does he take all that power to 168 lbs. when he will be fighting Froch at 178come fight time?

Froch has NEVER ducked anyone. His position on Ward has always been the same...Ward needs to come to England.

I love Ward but he is killing his own career. A rematch in England with Froch would be HUGE and by far his highest payday, $8-10 million.

Ward had ALL of his fights in US during Super 6 as well. Get the passport out Andre and take the fight and stop doing all of your fighting in court.

Dude, you lost twice to Goosen and there is nothing "shady" going on. Stop trying to get your childhood friend paid as a promoter when he has never promoted any of your fights. Goosen's reputation is the best in the boxing business here in the States.

I am a huge Ward fan but he is killing his own career. Please someone help and get him a good manager before he becomes Kelly Pavlik, a superstar who just fades out in their prime.

by that logic, heavy underdogs should never fight.

i agree that the real tests for ward are at 175, but to call a fight against his top contender a "cherry pick" is too much. there's middle ground.

brits are generally much more nationalistic than americans. just look at their love / bias for carl froch. america has had hundreds, of carl froches. you don't see us going crazy over "domestic" american fights, do you?

as for froch making a ton of money in vegas fighting chavez, i have a hard time believing that he'll make much more than he made against groves in the rematch.

chavez career high payday was a ppv against martinez. it sold decently well. chavez got a three million dollar guarantee.

ward himself is one of the highest rated HBO fighters, and receives basically the maximum HBO payday [two million.] he's never been on ppv.

the major appeal with the chavez fight is that it's an easy opponent. i can't see him making more against chavez in vegas than he did in england against groves in the rematch.

i actually can't find exact figures for purses after the froch - groves rematch. i'm led to believe that it's a very high number, but i can't get it pinned down with a concrete source.

You remind me of a young me, New England...you will Own many a Bridiot in your time, but remember this...

They are like c*ckroaches...and the only way they stop doing their thing is when they die.

                but on to the topic...

Many of you like a grunt like Froch because you think you can identify with him....lol...well get this...

He is CONTENT with being a DISTANT #2 to Andre Ward...completely and shamelessly resigning himself from going for Glory...

for himself AND his lacking Boxing nation...

It's pathetic...and those of you who are defending it have no idea how bad that makes you look...

Britain's top fighter is happy with being 2nd Rate...if you had ANY personal familiarity with Greatness, you would be HATING him for this...

but you don't have any...you are literally aspiring to be average Joes.

Yeah it is a shame to hear such a prominent fighter openly say he wants no part of another major fighter, but think about it...

Wouldnt you rather hear a fighter say "I dont want to fight him again" rather than "I dont want to fight him"...

I mean, I am not trying to defend Froch and the possibility of him 'ducking' Ward, but he has fought him and lost already...Yeah the times have changed and a lot of the landscape has shifted since then, but the majority of the fans who know of Ward think he will more than likely beat Froch 9 times out of 10...So in a way Froch kind of has a point that you can understand...In terms of how meaningful the fight is it is 50/50, for Froch and Ward there is a lot to work out and both guys have their own paths to head down (Ward needs to get back on track and Froch can fight Jr in Vegas) but for the fans and the landscape of the division it is a 'must happen' type of fight, so I can understand the mixed reactions here...

But yeah, it is a shame to hear it non-the-less...

but we've seen this fight already. fighting an underdog is one thing, rematching an underdog you've already comprehensively beaten is another. beating froch again doesn't do anything for ward's resume, it's just a risk free pay day. ward is an exceptional fighter, he should be more ambitious. froch, chavez jr and golovkin seem to be the fights he wants, but they're not particularly exciting prospects, are they? (well, golovkin might be after he has established himself as #1 middleweight and perhaps had an introductory fight at super middle.) ward seems to already view his resume as 'complete' and is now content to just coast along cherry picking pay days. i don't agree, i think he's right in the middle of his prime and should be moving onwards and upwards.
