Muay thai is a more brutal sport with elbows being used.

it's not just that they are blocking kicks, knees, elbows, etc ..you think it will be as hard to just block a plain punch after all that..and they can take a hell of a lot more pain it is part of the training, if you can't take pain you are kicked out

Muy Thai is limited to certain fighters. Being you need to be:

        A.) Tall.

        B.) Have a solid midsection.

C.) Have legs made of steel.

If you can achieve those three, you are automatically potential for a excellent Muy Thai striker.

It's all about leverage, and all the punishment you take is on the midsection. You gaurd with elbows, but generally leave it open with your hands in the air.

            No one really knows.

Some kickboxers would get owned under muay thai rules...
and the opposite can also be true...
in K1, elbows are banned. and I think they also ban knee strikes during the clinch. (while you're holding your opponent's head.)
Yeah like Van Damme winning over Tong po or whatever his name is.

                Muay Thai

Practically the same as karate however with boxing gloves. Be that as it may, in Muay Thai it is permitted with lowkicks to the legs, knees and elbows, in addition clinching and grabbing the opponents kicking leg. Muay Thai is fairly slower and puts significantly more power in each strike than in kickboxing.
