    Hard to tell..
It's like asking pro boxer vs kickboxer...
    No one really knows.

Some kickboxers would get owned under muay thai rules...
and the opposite can also be true...
in K1, elbows are banned. and I think they also ban knee strikes during the clinch. (while you're holding your opponent's head.)

Didn't Benny the Jet fight some Muay Thai fighters? Not sure what rules they used. That guy was pretty crazy, nonetheless.

Who needs reasons? I assume you mean American kickboxing, which doesn't allow knees or elbows, and Thai kickboxing, which does. Besides, Thai's do this for a living. It's the national sport, for crissakes. They will always be better, forever. No humane concerns. No BS. Start fighting when they are little kids....

No question about it....Muay Thai fighting is superior by far. The sport of eight limbs....fists, elbows, knees, and feet come flying at you at warp speed.....pulling down on your opponents head in a clinch to meet the strike of a knee- brutal is a mild word to describe it....its not uncommon to see 6 year old boys in a thai ring fighting each other- they start training in Muay Thai camps at a very early age. Its a way of life for men.

i kickbox and ive also trained thai, and i can honestly say that thai is more effective, holding, knees, elbows and lowkicks.

so on a general basis a thai fighter would beat a kickboxer
