when did calzaghe become a master boxer? he came forward throwing wide slappy punches with terrible defense. i didn't realize ward and dirrell fought like that. calzaghe tried to outbox kessler for the first 5 rounds and was down on the cards so he turned into sir slappy-hands.

Came forward slapping, yet he beat 45 pro fighters that way including a legend/HOF'er and his face rarely showed any signs of him being in a style of fight a come forward fighter would have.

            I'd favour Froch.

Calzaghe was faster, but his lack of power would see Froch trade punches with him instead of playing defense...speed against power, but I think Froch could hurt him. Froch wouldn't tire down the stretch either like other opponents did.

Calzaghe was no great boxer, he was good speed and workrate.

Froch conditioning and chin are both world class. His fighting style and defense arent. I got joe slappy by UD but would love to see Froch give Cokezaghe the old elmers glue, i mean a proper pasting. Yes.

well most of the guys he fought hardly qualify as pro fighters. i mean eric crumble and charlie zelenoff are technically pro fighters.

Calzaghe would likely make Froch look really bad just like Ward and Dirrell did. Calzaghe is a good level or two above Froch in ability and that is not somehow not the case simply because Froch has genuinely tested himself against the very best in a good super-middleweight era. Froch has been tested and it has shown just how effective a fighter he is but it has also revealed his limitations, limitations that both Dirrell and Ward revealed.

how could froch ever beat a guy that fights like this? guy's defensive skills would be too much for froch to overcome.
