  • Comments Thread For: Sergio: whether Cotto boxes or attacks, night will be short

Sergio Martinez calls this Saturday’s pay-per-view bout with Miguel Cotto “the most important fight of my career,” but he does not at all consider Cotto to be his most difficult opponent.

Rather, Martinez said during a June 3 chat on ESPN.com that it will not matter what Cotto does — insisting that the bout will still end early with the champion from Argentina as the winner.

“I'm not worried about anything that Cotto can possibly bring,” said during the chat.

Oh, I concur! I feel if Martinez decides to attack early or **** with Cotto, Cotto is the better puncher in the way he delivers his shots when he plants his feet. I think Martinez could get messed up bad if he allows Cotto to set and land clean.
Power might be the only 50/50 in this fight and if Martinez is willing to give up all his other advantages to **** with Cotto, he might realize it's a mistake early.

Power might be the only thing that is 50/50 in this fight??? I won't even bother....

You will be worried once those shots start landing... Once those sissy little knees start to itch and sore... Once Cotto starts pulling your gloves down on the clinch to fracture your wrist... Once that girly hand of yours gives out... Once those body shots start landing on that pillow soft mid section... Once you see Cotto changing position to force you to move and use those knees.... Once Cotto starts hitting your thighs to further limit your movement...

Hehe trust me, there's a lot you WILL HAVE to worry about on Saturday night you big fat *****.

Very telling for Sergio to concentrate on a KO... seems like he is very aware that if fight goes the distance, his injuries will not hold up.

Cotto doesn't have enough power to do anything here, Sergio handled Pavlik's shots just fine this is a total mismatch and Cotto has no way to win that I can see.

I've read that the new york state athletic commission won't let Martinez wear a knee brace.

Martinez's knee better be 100% or he better get a KO early because if his knee blows out again, Cotto wins.

I agree with Sergio, it will be a short night. Cotto's jab might buy him some time, but I can't see the fight going beyond 7 rounds. I'm thinking less.
