900K buys is not a FLOP

Lets do math here.... 900000 x 70.00 = 63,000,000. Plus the gate of lets say 17,000,000+63,000,000 = 80,000,000.00 Now you take the 32. mil floyd and the under card and Madiana purse of about 10,000,000 mil That leaves Showtime a profit of 38 Mil. In business when people say they lost money that mean they lost according to what they projected... they might have projected 100 mil per fight so they lost 20 mil in projection but Showtime will not continue doing business with Floyd if they was losing money people.. Do you really thing Showtime will run there company in the ground and take a lost for 3 more fights... Come on people be smarter than that. You didnt see HBO several ties with Pac when he did 500K against Rios...because they didnt lose money they just didnt make as much as they wanted...CHURCH

There was a time when promoters promoted anyone and anything. Before this cold war where you could only promote your own stable.
I'm not moving anything. I'm presenting scenarios of ways GBP can go after Schaefer if he and Haymon were to start a new company. Paying $1.2 million for Russell/Lomachenko is not a good business decision and everybody inside the boxing industry was laughing about it. That's just one example along with GBP's entire roster being diminished.

Why not pay $1.5 million for a megafight between Errol Spence and Felix Verdejo while were at it? Make up a belt for it while were at it.

Ok well then your prior premise of it being bad because neither are GBP fighters is wrong. Your premise that it's overspending, I can certainly agree with that.

Agree. But if Russell was a GBP fighter, it may be somewhat justified because they would expect to recoup it over the long term if they expect him to be a star one day. That's where I was getting at.

I hear you and I agree. I suspect Russell is advised by Haymon?

Yup. Russell, Porter, Thurman, Lara and a bunch of others have no ties with any promotional company.

I wonder if floyd or showtime will now exercise the out clause in the contract even though Floyd has fought 2 times in 12 months and sold 4 mil ppv's.

I don't see cotto beating sergio but if he does, and floyd wants to fight him, he will surely have to let TR handle the promotional stuff, which is sonething he clearly doesn't want to do.

This is shaping up to be floyd/quillin or floyd/garcia at the barclays in sept. Niether fight does much for me unless floyd v danny would be at 140.
I dont know man, Golden Boy/Top Rank fights seem to be promoted on a much higher and better level than anybody else. When they put on a big fight, it looks like a big fight. So we will see if its the same quality in Floyd's next fight. Its gonna be interesting. Im assuming "Mayweather Promotions" is going to be legit now.

Al Haymon fighters ( a few)

Adrien Broner, Danny Garcia, Lucas Matthysse, Deontay Wilder, Chris Arreola, Peter Quillin, Shawn Porter, Keith Thurman, Paulie Malignaggi, Sakio Bika, Chad Dawson and Rances Barthelemy....so who will Pac fight out of here if GBP say they are not working with Al Haymon

"I've been in a hundred strategy sessions, I've been in a hundred meetings, I've been in a hundred planning sessions on our events and the people I've worked closely with are Richard and Bruce," Ellerbe said. "I've never seen Oscar in one of those sessions, not once. We've never had one discussion about business. But I wish (Golden Boy) nothing but the best."

Oscar really played himself. It's no wonder they don't want Schaefer to leave. And I think he has no one to blame but himself; getting coked up and having *****s shoved where the sun don't shine while business was being run. If Schafer, Iskowitch and Binkow are gone, fighters probably won't want to stick around, which is why he needs an alliance with Top Rank.
