The nature of the boxing business necessitates some sleeze, but overall Shaefer held his own in a cutthroat business.

Schaefer had basically exclusivisity to Haymon's growing stable of fighters..now everything is in limbo. It's just as likely to breed THREE power brokers in Boxing instead of spurring this unification everyone is dreaming of.

More division is what I see on the horizon. Not more unity.
Why is this so? Do you think fight to fight wage boxers care who their allegiance is too? They'd look out for their own interests. Boxers would happily fight under both GBP and TR co-promoted fights.

It's the dumbest thing in the world that schafer is going to quit now because Oscar wants to make some fights happen with another promotional company. Man that's good for business and especially the fans. As a fan im tired of seeing top rank fighters against top rank fighters, and the same with golden boy. If they came come together and give the fans the fights they want then why the hell are they in boxing?

I wonder if Floyd breaks away from Oscar. Who's he going to fight then if he won't fight GB fighters too? LOL fun times.
Mayweather oficially broke ties from golden boy as well, the article is on espn.com/boxing.

At least there is no more roadblocks in the way for tr and gbp to work together now...i think it is safe to say the cold war is over now, or is getting close!! Bring on marquez vs porter!!!!

In think its funny people saying fighters will leave Golden Boy? NO ONE IS UNDER CONTRACT WITH THEM. They were all on a fight by fight basis with Goilden Boy like FLoyd. They are all under contract to AL HAYMON. Oscar is done. He has Canelo and mares and NO ONE ELSE.

I'd love to see JMM vs Porter. That would be an intriguing fight just based on their totally different styles, to see how they would mesh.

Anyone that thinks the cold war is over.....this was set up a long time ago. Oscar is out. its Now TR vs Floyd/Schaf/Haymon as top 2 promoters. None of the fighters were under contract to Golden boy. This was set up a while ago. Oscar is SCREWED. And its why he want running back to Arum. He needs people for Canelo and mares to fights because that is the only big fighters he has.

Only problem is PORTER is NOT under contract to golden boy. He is under contract with haymon but Golden Boy was a fight by fight contract.

He's got a purse bid coming up for the Brook mandatory. Who is going to place a bid for him? Haymon don't have a license.
