He may be number 2 in the division rankings, but Andre Ward has never earned $12 million for a fight like Froch did against Groves. Whether you realize it or not, fighters care a hell of a lot more about the money they make than their ranking. Also, Ward has never fought in front of 80,000 people. Those two accomplishments alone is enough to make any fighter want to retire and go out on top.

A fight of this magnitude with this kind of purse is the only reason Froch should consider continuing.
