Damn, I thought Rigo finally found a permenant coach in Diaz. Rigo has been everywhere, working with Roach, Roger Maweather (or Floyd Sr?), Diaz. He's the next Cotto, lol.

I don't think this guy even listens to his trainers. Roach's, for instance, main focus is on offense. Look at that Chinese guy who also came from the amateurs but is making waves in his country. Roach turned him into a relentless, offensive machine and he's been making tons of money out of it. Rigondeux, otoh, would rather stick with his style, then complain why people are booing and exiting the doors when he's fighting.

You think Zhou's a relentless offensive machine? He just scored his first knockout in his 4th fight. I don't know of any other Olympian that took that long to record a KO. And its not like he's facing elite guys, he's fighting guys with comparable records.

This is gonna be the rigondeaux, viloria, and shiming card.

But the guy rigos fighting is some Thai guy with a 63-2 record. Both losses to ponce De Leon. His last 2 fights were against ppl with 0-1 record and someone making their debut ... Now he's fighting rigo. WTH arum??

This guy doesn't even need a trainer. Just someone to hold the mitts and call out combinations.

Perhaps he is a primadonna like Fraud and difficult to work with. Some gifted athletes can be like that. Even crappy ones like JCC jr can be be primadonnas.

Thanks for this insight because Rigo (alongside Andre Ward/Adonis Stevenson) are my favorite fighters in the world.

That's true as long as he's fighting inferior opposition, but it's a different ball game versus world class comp. I don't think it's a coincidence that Rigo changed trainers when he landed the Donaire fight. As good as Guille is, and as much as we like to hype him up, he needs a top trainer if he's fighting someone anywhere near his league. I could train him and he'd beat this dude he's lined up to fight next.

Pedro Diaz is a much better trainer than Jorge Rubio in my opinion. But given Rigo's ring experience and ring IQ, he has the ability to make adjustments during a fight therefore it's not very important.

It seems Rigo doesn't like to stay too long with the same trainer. He has been trained by Freddie Roach, Ronnie Shields, Ismael Salas, Jorge Rubio, Pedro Diaz and now he's back with Rubio.
