Should there be with a Super Heavyweight division in the pro game?

Do you think we should have this?

I believe so. On a basic level without even bringing their fight into the equation, Lets say for example a fighter like David Haye, he can't really make cruiserweight but when he fights somebody like Wlad, with both fighters in shape, he's at a huge disadvantage in size, much much much more than we would tolerate a lower weight class. That size difference is huge compared to a fight Mayweather v Marquez who are almost the same size in comparison.

I know it makes for clash of styles and some fighters have made exception to size but why are we ok with such big size differences at higher weights than lower weights? people cry over a weight class difference at lower weights but some heavyweight fights are essentially 3 or 4 weight classes apart if you consider the weight splits between each division. At the end of the day, they are still men and size makes a difference at higher weights too.

I'm not saying we should have like 7-8lbs splits at that weight too. But maybe a weight class above 230?

If we dont think a 147 pound fighter belongs in the ring with somebody 160, why should a 220 pound fighter belong in the ring with somebody 240?

Also, this might give flabby fighters like Arreola and Chambers etc..to get in shape and fight men their size.

No. Because we want fighters to dare to be great.

Ok, then put Danny Garcia in with Golovkin. That's fair by your theory.

        No.

Charr outweighed Povetkin by about 30 pounds on Friday.

Tye Fields was much bigger than Monte Barrett.

Dimitrenko was much bigger than Chambers.

Willard was much bigger than Dempsey.

Virtually all of Mike Tyson's opponents were taller and a had longer reach.

Like i said in my post, there is exceptions to it, and smaller fighters have beaten bigger fighters. I have no doubt this would happen at lower weights too if there was more fights with such big weight differences as some fighters are just clearly better fighters.

I'm just talking on a basic level about weight classes without bringing specific fights into it.

Maybe it's then a case of more lower weight fights should fight with much bigger fighters as we know size doesn't always win fight.

I'm just saying we tolerate huge size differences at heavyweight. I know they are all big strong guys but 6'7 240 pound guy against a 6'2 220 pound guy is still a hell of a size difference no matter how big they both are.

Well then as i said, maybe in the lower weight divisions more fighters should be trying to fight bigger fighters to show skill can win fights over size. I'd like to see a lot more of it.

Rather than drain fighters, fighters should move up or let them fight at their proper weight. Even if it's 2 different weight classes, because that's what we're doing at heavyweight.
