Like most boxers, Froch can look good or bad against certain styles.

Was he "technically terrible" against Arthur Abraham? No. He put on a clinic. He outboxed Kessler from range with the jab in the early stages of their 2nd fight.

Against faster fighters, he can look technically inept because he has to change tack to compensate for his speed disadvantages.

While Pac obviously has the better attributes, they are similar in the fact they're overachievers. They both always manage to surprise me in the fights I pick against them in.

He's so terrible that he beat Abraham better than Ward, beat Taylor who Hopkins could not beat, and has wins over Pascal and Glen Johnson who are and were world class lightheavyweights, Kessler , Dirrell, ****ed the reigning champion Bute up so bad he has never been the same and looks afraid in the ring now. Styles makes fights. A young mover was always going to give Froch problems if you looked at the Dirrell fight.

All the top pundits had froch beating dirrell including the press row. Dirrells best round was round 10 which he rightfully got decuted a point. He was marked up froch was unmarked.

Dirrell is no where to be seen, bigragu sums up the fight well, althugh i had froch winning by 4 rounds...

As you can see all the comments agree with bigragus view...

Spot on. Wether we hate or love the stoppage in the first fight forever Groves is going to have a red L next to the fight for the rest of his life. To say a 2 x WBC champion and a reigning IBF/WBA champion to have the audacity to call him terrible when all you have won is a british and commonwealth titles is a head scratcher. Froch has been in there with the who's who of the 168lb division.

Being technically "by the book" is completely overrated

                  Precisely.

"By the book" isn't always the effective way.

Froch has plenty of flaws, he does plenty of things "Wrong" but he's effective and at the end of the day that is all that matters.

Roy Jones did almost nothing by the book, neither did Ali.

It might not always look pretty but Froch has been beating world class fighters for years now. Ive seen him dominate behind the jab, ive seen him whip in 4-5 punch combos with power and have nearly all the punches land clean lol. There is clearly a form of skill in what he does. Intangibles alone don't take you to where Froch has been.
