Yeah, I followed some of the last days of the 50c/Mayweather breakup. 50 cent's now promotional company would have been the TMT Floyd is proudly calling his.

It's obvious to me that Floyd is afraid to make a commitment for a full-pledged promotional company.

The very moronic posts aside ..... smfh!

There are certain requirements and obligations to being a licensed promoter and unless you, as an individual intend on complying, it simply doesn't make sense. Many in the business suggest the alternate route (LLC) where an entity can still benefit from the promotional aspects of Boxing, without obligating themselves to the strict requirements.

Mayweather Promotions is a promotional company (LLC) It is NOT a licensed Promoter.

REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR A PROMOTER LICENSE

Completed ORIGINAL application and one copy of the entire application package. Failure to answer all questions and submit backup documentation and/or give an explanation in writing as to why they are not included as part of the application will result in your application not being placed on a Commission agenda for consideration.
One fingerprint card for each officer of the corporation, partnership or proprietorship. Each card must be filled out completely. Along with each card you must submit a CERTIFIED CHECK or MONEY ORDER made payable to Department of Public Safety in the amount of $37.50 and a completed Civil Applicant Waiver. The cards are submitted to the Department of Public Safety and FBI for background checks and require 60 to 90 days for the information to be returned to us. Please submit them immediately if you want to cut down on the time required to obtain a license.
Two years income tax returns, corporate or individual depending on business structure.
$500 Application fee will be collected upon approval of the application and completion of the bond requirement.
$10,000 Promoter's License and Refund Bond.
A representative of the organization to be licensed must be present at a scheduled commission meeting when the application for licensure is discussed.
You must submit any additional information requested by the Commission.
All requests for dates to promote must be made in writing and submitted to the Commission office as far in advance as possible, as they require Commission approval on a commission agenda.

            Expectations of a Boxing Promoter

And here is where the issue lies for many and why it is avoided for the LLC. route.

Had to search for this .... which the OP could have done as well

Being a LLC in Nevada has a bunch of tax advantages including no personal income tax, no corporate tax, no gift tax, and no unitary tax.

There are also liability advantages for being located in Nevada including the fact that officers (C-level, presidents, vice presidents, etc.) cannot be sued as an individual for actions tied to the company, except for outright fraud.

There are a bunch of business-friendly privacy laws in Nevada as well.
