British star Amir Khan is targeting a ring return in October or November. He won't get a lucrative fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr., who plans to return on September 13 - a date which Khan is unable to take part in due to a scheduling conflict.

One name Khan is not going to consider for a fall opponent is domestic rival Kell Brook - unless Brook reaches a deal to fight undefeated IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter - and captures Porter's title. Brook is the mandatory challenger and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, is currently speaking with Golden Boy regarding the bout.

Alright, I know that most Khan articles here are actually snippets of just one or two interviews spread over multiple of articles so it looks like Amir has a lot to say...

But between Kell and Amir it is clear that Amir talks more about Kell than Kell does about Amir.

Brook has made a career out of fighting mail men and then using Khan's name to hype those fights to stay relevant. I actually like the kid, but he tells Khan to "fight me and retire rich" then goes off to fight Alvaro Robles. Really? Been this way for the last 4 years or so.

You do have a point but it seems to me that for every article here on boxingscene of Kell calling out Amir there's at least a 1:3 ratio of Amir brushing off Kell with kell being 1 and Amir being 3. I could be wrong, but that's just how I feel. This is purely based off boxingscene articles, I don't read any british .co.uk articles.

It's actually a great thing given the attention boxing gets over there the fight could be a great event, but Brook's opposition is so frustrating. He has been a pro since 2004 with 32 fights and hasn't even been in a title fight let alone win one. His level of opposition has two extremes, either Khan or a burger flipper.

Khan should fight Brook, but only if he has a belt, because otherwise he gets nothing. If he wins "oh he beat a hype job". and if he loses then it's game over. No incentive in Khan being an economic ladder for some prospect when he can get proven veterans like Porter, Maidana or Guerrero.

You do realize a lot of the times it is one interview being made in to multiple articles right?

Actually, Hearn, who is Brook's promoter, is the one offering YOU money for the fight, you dumb pillock, and he's offering you BY FAR the biggest payday of your topsy-turvy career. You made less than 1.5 mill for Collazo, Hearn is offering you over three times that to fight Brook. It's a simple question of economics. Don't you want a huge payday and to take part in a fight that would be huge in Britain, perhaps contested in a football stadium with 30-40,000 in attendance? Yes, Brook will receive a huge payday for the fight also, but his purse will be less than yours, so if you think you can win, why not get it on?

Khan hates that there's another Brit at his weight getting attention in the world stage.

And Senchenko wasn't a nobody, that's a little disrespectful. Yes, Brook's level of competition hasn't been the best, but we'll see what he's got in his arsenal when he faces Porter. At this point, I give him the benefit of the doubt, he is a skilled boxer with power; we need to see if he belongs at top level.

So it's irrelevant that he'll be getting BY FAR his biggest payday, in a fight that would be a huge PPV in the UK? You act as if satisfying the demanding hardcore fans is all fighters care about; it isn't, how much they earn is by far their biggest concern. In this case, I think Khan simply dislikes Brook so intensely that he doesn't want to give him a big fight. That's all there is to it. You said if Khan wins he gets nothing, well what did he get for beating Julio Diaz, or Luis Collazo for that matter? Both had lost to numerous top fighters. And Khan took a beating in the former for about 20% of what he'd make fighting Kell Brook.

If Kell beats Porter - big IF - it'll be interesting to see what Khan says.
